I wonder if he even read the quote. He obviously believes the government should not only think for us but do virtually everything for us. Feed us, shelter us, evacuate us... Anything else you expect the government to do for us. Talk about torpor and imbecility A. Reston you are it. Reply helorat, Milton 5/9/07 re: William Godwin quote New Orleans the shining example of the Great Society. And don't even start the Bush bashing. It is tough to deliver emergency relief (for which their is no Constitutional authority) when you are using the majority of your assets to perform 40,000+ life saving rescues of people to stupid to think or act for themselves. 2 Reply helorat, Milton 5/9/07 re: Joyce Cary quote Pity the socialists and their union hacks who are always trying to save the jobs of the buggy whip makers can't get this through their skulls. If you want a job, train for it and earn it. It is not a right. 1Reply helorat, Milton 5/9/07 re: John F. Kennedy quote Conformity just for the sake of conforming is only exceeded in foolishness by being different just for the sake of being different. Conformity does not have any effect of freedom or growth except in the minds of those who let it. Reply helorat, Milton 5/7/07 re: Alf Mapp, Jr. quote Very reasoned and intelligent quote. Methinks the quote might cut a little to close to the bone for socialists who resides in America, milking the fairest form of economics ever devised, capitalism, for all it is worth, while condeming it and their country for being unfair because lazy incompetents are not wealthy. Reply helorat, Milton 5/7/07 re: Alexis de Tocqueville quote If you do not have faith in the existence of a higher power the only thing that stops you from committing evil acts is the threat of being caught and worldly punishment. If you do not derive your morality from a higher authority then yourself then you can adapt it anytime you like... situational morality. That is no morality at all. Once every century or so a Frenchmen gets it. De Tocqueville gets it! Of course you can have immorality with or without faith, we are human, it is a given; but you cannot have morality without faith, it is only a sham, a front, not true morality. Reply helorat, Milton 5/7/07 re: Alexander Hamilton quote Gosh Robert it was such a nice place before we got there was it not?? And the last time I checked, all the major terrorist attacks on this country occurred before we invaded Iraq. What world do you live in? If you actually supported "our boys and girls" you might actually listen to them say let us finish the job. You are just another socialist Bush hater. 5 Reply helorat, Milton 5/4/07 re: Patrick Henry quote Dick, et al, the editor, unlike you, no doubt realizes that liberty is guarded by the individual with the means to defend himself. This is a site dedicated to individual liberty, not socialism, communism, or european appeasers. If you can't handle individual liberty and freedom, why are YOU here? This is not a site dedicated to government solutions to peoples problems. It is about liberty being the solution to the human condition. And with liberty come the responsibilty to actually be responsible for protecting your own life, private property and that very liberty itself. If you do not recognize that, then you are an American only by accident of birth, not in spirit or in truth. Dick, you obviously can't argue against the truth and logic of my post, so I thank you for the act of concession blatantly obvious in the name calling. No hatred here I feel sorry for you, to have a life goal of transitioning from dependency on mommy and daddy to dependency on government. Sad! Reply helorat, Milton 5/4/07 re: David Friedman quote The house communist shoots his own argument in the foot. Alcohol and drugs are consumables. Guns are durable. I have guns that are 100+ years old and still deadly. You can't stop people from having guns any more then you can stop them from having the consumables. Laws only work against those who are willing to obey them. The areas with the most gun control have the highest crime. Law abiding gun owner do win the war on crime. Look at VT vs Appalachian School of Law. Armed citizen-students stopped the latter. Comrade Reston, why don't you stick a GUN FREE ZONE sign in your front yard and stand up for your beliefs. Or you could stick your head back in the ground, actually there is probably a much more appropriate dark place. Reply helorat, Milton 5/4/07 re: Anonymous Gold Miner quote Self reliance, self protection, individual responsibility. Sounds very mature and grown up. Something a communist who needs the nannystate to think for him, decide for him and protect him will never understand. if that is what your twisted mind calls growing up... DAMNED Straight NEVER! From my cold dead hands... 3 Reply helorat, Milton 5/4/07 re: Patrick Henry quote Ahhh Robert, you decide if you are able. The people of the First and other Amendments are the same people. To argue otherwise is pure foolishness. Another Joe specificly changes the wording and the context to make ludicrous argument. The First A is written as a restriction of Power on the Federal government only... Congress shall make no law...the Second A is a specific protection of the right to bear arms from any infringement from whatever the source. And the house communist fails to recognize the millions of protective uses of firearms each year. The Second A is to protect against a tyranical government, robbers are secondary. The founders were very specific about that. Comrade Reston you get a dog, I will keep my gunS, lots of them, with big scary magazines and thousands of rounds of ammunition. I AM an American. Firearms ownership is not only a right of citizenship, it is a responsibility of citizenship. Sleep tight knowing there are bad men out there protecting moral cowards like yourself. Reply helorat, Milton 5/3/07 re: Russel Bouchard quote A, Reston does not forget history, he is a communist, he just rewrites it and refuses delivery on the truth. He thinks the founders can't tell what the word people means and thinks the bill of rights gives the states the power to maintain an organized militia which was already in the body of the Constitution. Apparently he also thinks also there is no threat to hunting arms but self defense arms can be forbidden, which leads to the conclusion the right to hunt is more important then the right to defend yourself. The fool would not know a logical fallacy if it was injected directly in his brain. Jack tell me what you said while someone is raping your wife or daughter. I will believe you believe it then. 1 Reply helorat, Milton 5/3/07 re: Alanna Mitchell quote Hey Simon of Deep Bull, wake up: fascism = socialism=left wing=you just because you have drunk the koolaid don't expect me to. I fear the government that fears my guns. Reply helorat, Milton 5/2/07 re: Rep. Elbridge Gerry quote The militia is still there. Both organized and unorganized. The unorganized militia is the most important part and it exists in fact and in law. It is just a matter of whether or not we each get our backs up enough to push that reset button on the Constitution. And once a gain Sarge, you are eminently correct. 4 Reply helorat, Milton 5/2/07 re: Alexander Hamilton quote Absolutely Joe. Now all we have to do is work on that "little if at all inferior to them in discipline and use of arms, who stand ready to defend their rights" part. And Sarge, you are absolutely correct and I hope the American people realize how right you are. Most of the Marines I served with would sooner hand out the arms rather then take them away. 1 Reply helorat, Milton 5/1/07 re: John Trenchard quote Lest we forget! 21Reply helorat, Milton 5/1/07 re: Thomas Jefferson quote Jefferson does't imply squat! He meant exactly what he said. Anony, mous is an idiot, and a moral welfare recipient, like Gook head from fantasyland, and Werner. It is the ignorant fools like you three who twist the meaning of words to suit their own agendas who seek to destroy this country. Joe, CAP, & Logan you are quite right. The collapse of our country will not be just because of too many economic welfare recipients, but the number of moral welfare recipients. Jefferson invaded the Islamic Fascists and we must continue to take the fight to others. The alternative is to fight here. I choose to fight in their yard not mine. The IRS infringes on more rights in a day than the President and the Patriot Act their collective existences. Get real, get a life and accept the fact you get to say the stupid things you do only because of people like me who carry your water for you. Reply helorat, Milton 4/30/07 re: Ronald Reagan quote AMEN Chuck! Reply helorat, Milton 4/30/07 re: Bill Clinton quote Democracy is not freedom, it is tyranny. It is dictatorship legitimize by a vote. The more democratic we become the less free we are. Who can possibly believe that democrats in general or the Clinton's in particular have any real interest in freedom for the average American. The just want a dependant class of bought voters. Reply helorat, Milton 4/30/07 re: Bill Clinton quote Hard to believe he was stupid enough to say this (Freudian slip no doubt), but it is oh so very Democrat and even more Clintonesk. Reply helorat, Milton 4/27/07 re: Mahatma Mohandas K. Gandhi quote Not a believer in Liberty there Robert? You seem to always question anything pro-individual owership of weapons. Personally it is irrellevant if he said it. It is in fact a true statement. 1 Reply helorat, Milton 4/26/07 re: Josef Stalin quote E Archer said it all! 4 Reply helorat, Milton 4/26/07 re: Vladimir Ilyich Lenin quote Reston, how dare you disagree with your hero, mentor and spirit guide??! 2 Reply helorat, Milton 4/26/07 re: Vladimir Ilyich Lenin quote Where is A, Reston drooling over the words of his hero and mentor?
