Good old Jury Nullification, the way to nullify bad law.

jim k, Austin, Tx

Good comments from Mike and J. Let's hope that the Judge holds firm in Georgia. Has anyone seen or heard anything about this case on the main stream media, or even Fox ?

Sort of like the bunch currently infesting Washington.

Obama pays no attention to the courts, the Congress, the Constitution, or anything else. After all, he's the King. Has there ever been a president as openly arrogant as ths guy ?

Look up Jury Nullificatio on the www for more information.

It's called Jury Nullification and is an age old custom. No judge will ever mention it and most lawyers haven't even heard of it. Simply put, it means that if in your opinion it's a bad law you nullify it by voting not guilty, regardless of any evidence. Judges will charge the jury saying that they can only judge the case by the evidence and nothing else, this is not true. In any criminal trial, the defendent and the law are are both on trial but don't expect to hear this from any judge.

It's known as Jury Nullification and most lawyers have never heard of it and no judge is going to mention it. If it's a bad law, the Jury can return a verdict of not guilty regardless of the evidence.

One solution to this frivolous lawsuit problem that infests this country, would be to fine the people bringing the suit and making them pay court costs.

Virtually every person in the U.S. Congress is,or has been a lawyer. Does that explain why we are in the mess that we are in.

Thanks to the "War on Drugs" we have these lovely asset forfeiture laws established some years back by our highly intelligent congress. I wouldn't say that it's "due process of law" when cops can take your car, your boat, your home, or whatever without even charging you with a crime. They do it every day right here in the land of the formerly free. LEAP.cc

I'd need his definition of "true liberty". I suspect that many Cubans who did what he advised are languishing year after year in one of Fidel's prisons.

In our nanny state, you shouldn't say anything that isn't politically correct.

The Bill of Rights exists to protect us from government, not from each other.

And when politicians give away your money, liberals consider them to be so caring and altruistic.

I agree with this one, and there is no doubt that the lawyers are running, or ruining the country. Almost every single person in both houses of congress is a lawyer, has been a lawyer, or at least has been to law school. Is it any wonder that things are so fouled up.

This quote is unfortunantly true. The best organization on earth for protection of property rights and other government usurptions of our liberties is the Institute for Justice. Check them out.

I love quotes by this man, He always got it right.

Thanks to this horrible "War on Drugs" cops can now seize private property without even charging anyone with a crime. If this isn't a police state please tell me what is.

I think that George Thomas has it right. It's good to see that not everyone in England has gone crazy.

Perhaps you've noticed that no matter how much evidence proves that a man in prison is really innocent, prosecutors will never admit that they were wrong. 50 people can swear that the prisoner was in China when the crime happened in Texas and the prosecuting attorney will still say he's guilty.

Mr. Mill sounds like he may have been a Libertarian, if so, good for him. The libertarian Party is the only political party that truly believes in limited government. The dems and repubs are two sides of the same coin.

Shucks guys, the IRS says that paying income taxes is voluntary. Of course if you don't volunteer you could be in a lot of trouble. This does not fit the definition of the word " volunteer" that I found in my dictionary. Perhaps the good folk in the treasury department have a different dictionary.

Come on Reston, the dems and repubs are both in it up to their eyeballs. One is as much to blame as the other.
