Reply RBESRQ 2/16/10 re: Margaret Thatcher quote Troddle Reply RBESRQ 2/15/10 re: Ayn Rand quote A man's proper estate has many positions and these are a few. Reply RBESRQ 2/15/10 re: Anthony Ashley Cooper quote Five stars for intent Reply RBESRQ 2/15/10 re: Alphonse de Lamartine quote Yes, there is no freedom without virtue and on this Presidents day: "Few men have virtue to withstand the highest bidder" George Washington. Today, this is so evident DC. There is no deviation in the administration of Virtue it is absolute. That which is not is defined as such in your heart. 2 Reply RBESRQ 2/12/10 re: Benjamin Franklin quote I would say "Where real liberty dwells... Its amazing how our liberty is gradually eaten away by apathy, ignorance, and. as Mike puts it, ''statist theocracy'. And yet the people of America remain seated eating their double cheese burgers, watching the boob tube, and reveling in nationalistic and patriotic euphoria - all this while our liberty is being destroyed under the banner of fear. Liberty can only be preserved by individuals and communities who are vigilant and active in its preservation. We have allowed our military to take over our country at the expense of our liberty - remember BF other great words 'They who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety' Reply RBESRQ 2/9/10 re: Eric Hoffer quote I beg to differ - the Juvenile knows only to well when they are an ass, as the adult tells yet another lie to cover the other ten and digs the hole even deeper. 1 Reply RBESRQ 2/9/10 re: Fred W. Friendly quote Mike, I couldn't agree more with you over 9-11 I could add a long list of other anomalies like steel girders having a 45 degree cut towards the interior and so on. With regards to Beck he is a traitor to the human race - his fowl assertions and demeanor are just what is bad in America. 1 Reply RBESRQ 2/8/10 re: Fred W. Friendly quote TV is fantastic, unfortunately, it has a dark side which attracts greed, ego, power, and religious fundamentalists; all of which use the medium for spewing their propaganda and lies. It has made our children sedentary and the health care industry rich as a result. TV is a wonderful medium if used correctly and for education (though the line between entertainment and education has been fused); it has brought University into every community and not just for the privileged few; it can bring the world to your doorstep, the beautiful and the horrific. Look what it did re; Vietnam, Tiananman Square, 9-11 and so on. There will always be those who exploited the medium for their own agendas - it has made propaganda so easy to procure and so dangerous in the hands of corporate greed and political corruption. Mike, Obama and his benefactors are just the tip of the iceberg. Tea Parties, Brown Shirts, paid thugs; as Marshall McLuhan said, 'tell them, show them, and then tell them what you told them' (or something like that). TV is an incredible reflection of each of us. 1 Reply RBESRQ 2/6/10 re: John Locke quote The one thing that cost you nothing yet the most precious of all things - INTEGRITY. How easy it is to lose and yet how difficult ever to find again. 1 Reply RBESRQ 2/4/10 re: Polybius quote Unfortunately, in many cases, good men are lambasted and accused of being radical in the eyes of mediocrity. Good is in the heart (compassion and benevolence towards your fellow beings) and "Bad" is narcissism, greed, and a total lack of consideration for other beings. Very rarely bad becomes good but more often good becomes bad. Reply RBESRQ 2/4/10 re: Michael Kinsley quote Mike you have a point but I'm still going to give it 4 stars for intent. Reply RBESRQ 2/3/10 re: Michael Rivero quote America has killed thousands for personal gain - the list is very long. "The US Army Document That Proves the US is the World's Number One Sponsor of World Terrorism" Reply RBESRQ 2/3/10 re: Hiram W. Johnson quote Yes, also fear; fear is the harbinger of war and the rallying cry of the dogs of war; GREED, PROFIT, POWER, FUNDAMENTALISM, all are the slayers of truth. And Carlton don't forget Henry Ford and his Ivy league friends. It's amazing, when you tell the truth like Howard Zinn you are called a radical and an enemy of the State. This tell's us more about our society, about our culture, than people like Howard Zinn. Zinn was a true warrior, a true patriot, not the type that kill thousands from thirty thousand feet - it's time the people take back their country and so NO, we will not fight your wars anymore. The biggest threat to terrorism is America and CFR 2 Reply RBESRQ 2/3/10 re: L. Lionel Kendrick quote NO, No, No, A boat or a ships hull can have integrity which has nothing to do with ethics or Morals - Compassion is a life force Reply RBESRQ 2/2/10 re: Gilbert Keith Chesterton quote I agree with Mike, a very good quote but just a little ambiguous. Perhaps the Bush, Cheney, and Blaire war crimes fall into that category; and, now, being perpetuated by the Obama administration - I love the way the press (Jim) has no integrity when it comes to reporting those fighting to regain their country back - we call them insurgence and terrorists. Reply RBESRQ 2/2/10 re: C. P. Scott quote Sad we are so far from this ethic - will we ever return to a day when we can comfortably say 'yes, this is what we have'. I believe to do so will the Dems and start all over again from a clean slate - OK, with a little bit of blood on it! 2 Reply RBESRQ 2/2/10 re: L. Lionel Kendrick quote Yes, and Compassion... If only America had... instead of manufacturing a war machine for profit 3 Reply RBESRQ 2/1/10 re: Dr. Samuel Johnson quote Yes, I would add to that: "The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good and speaks not a word" Reply RBESRQ 2/1/10 re: Abba Eban quote Yes, and they probably have a brown nose. Reply RBESRQ 1/25/10 re: Ronald Reagan quote Waffler and Reston, these quotes from Reagan were probably written by some rookie attorney - sorry attorney's. And yes Reston we will pay the price for the fascist government for many years to come, at a cost yet to be accounted, but trust me learn quickly to cut everything in half. Reply RBESRQ 1/25/10 re: Granville Hicks quote A censor is a man who thinks he knows more than you ought to. A censor is a man (a society) plagued by delusion and insecurity with truth hidden for seventy years. Reply RBESRQ 1/24/10 re: Woodrow Wilson quote %*$@ There is no such thing as "My Natural Rights" - "Liberty comes from having a choice" you tell that to a starving HIV child in Africa whose parents have just been killed - natural rights - what codswallop. Liberty and Rights ONLY come from compassion - something American's will have to learn the hard way. 1Reply RBESRQ 1/24/10 re: Thomas I. Emerson quote America has caused that bloodshed - America has killed millions in the name of Freedom (but really for their corporate masters). How do you think covert operations are paid for, yes, drugs... Reply RBESRQ 1/24/10 re: Stanley Fish quote Mike, I couldn't agree more with regard to legalized slavery. Now the Supreme Court is in on the act. It was amazing to see the stocks tumble on the news of Brown's victory - and we all know why... Previous 25 Next 25 SaveOk2 Share on Facebook Tweet Email Print
