It is not a duty of government to suppress crime. At natural and Constitutional law, law enforcement is an oxymoron. It is the Sheriff's job to act as an agent of justice. Is the imposition of justice a disposition to suppress crime? It can be for some people, on certain occasions. The narrow band of authority for which Sheriffs may legally act at law is life, liberty, and property. Any government action taken to suppress crime is a crime.
