I always wondered where this quote came from.

Our Constitution doesn't seem to be in actual operation anymore, and we still have death and taxes. I guess Ben was right.

He was wearing Ben glasses ;-). The appearance severely faded after the War between the States and then vanished after 1913.

Keep the Death toll few, and the taxes low, lest we tax our children and become fools and servants of strangers. becoming the despotic dog which returns to its vomit.

I'm with Ken on this one ... and, frankly, I never liked the quote, true or otherwise.

The constitutional operations of the United States of America needs to be cultivated in a revised manner as to keep pace with an ever developing species arrangement correlating Americanism with Humanism.
