“He that is good, will infallibly become better, and he that is bad, will as certainly become worse; for vice, virtue and time are three things that never stand still.”

~ Charles Caleb Colton

There are many who were bad and now better and likewise many that were good who are now worse

Mike, Norwalk

The sentiment stated is probably true a majority of the time but, there are exceptions in many categories. To date, there is no known cure for the disease that is the pedophile.

E Archer, NYC

As much hope as there is for a bad man to become good, there is equal chance that a good man can go bad, too.

Ken, Allyn, WA

I find it curious that this quote comes from a cleric who is presumably Christian. He apparently didn't believe what he preached since Christianity is all about converting the bad to the good.

The "state and standing of man."
" There is none good no not one, There is not a just man upon the earth that doeth good and sinneth not. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." With that being said, " The ways of a man are of the Lord, so who can know his own way."
The potter has power over the clay, one to honor, one to dishonor. Dietary law was the great divider along with vice, taken out of the way allowing for unity of the believers.
There is a saying in the core, there will be many bad ones in heaven, and many good ones in hell. With the comparison of our Republic as heaven, and the democracy as hell, one can get the point very clearly. Our nation was founded by rebellion against the so-called good of democracy. Being conformed to the image of our Creator's Son, in like mindedness, that kingdom within sets us at odds with the world of democracy. We being Set at Liberty from oppression through Mob rule. To preach the cross is to preach liberty from death, and those chains that bring death to our liberty, we having been granted, the freedom to defend it. We walk by faith not by sight. It is our Creator who justifieth, not man. It is best to remember the largest group of socialist in the USA are guided by the protestant clergy. Evil is not in the Bar, but in the pulpit ! Happy is he who condemneth not that thing which he alloweth, for if it is not of faith, it is sin. Like mindedness with Christ at liberty need no other governing that that of Natural laws of cause and effect. One cannot use this liberty as a fire escape from hell. God taketh the wise in their own craftiness. Give light to Liberty, MAGA

David, Mannington

We've sent some "good" people to Washington and look what happened.

Patrick Henry, Red Hill

For most, life is a process of completion.

Mr. Colton, unaccountably enough, omits the weightier matters of the law: judgment, mercy and faith.

Ultimately, it is Grace that makes a defining
difference.
