Examples denying full exercise: Fencing protesters blocks away from what they are protesting, and denying people to speak their mind within a month of an election, abridges our 1st Amendment rights; Requiring a concealed carry permit, registration of weapons, and making certain weapons illegal (i.e. machine guns, .50 caliber, switchblades), infringes our 2nd Amendment rights.

I agree with Pres. Eisenhower's quote.The Truth is always a breath of fresh air in the face of deceipt and misinformation.The Truth is also the source of internal personal strength.

The administrative regimes of the day do not make claims to the constitution unless it suits their purposes, in fact they would just rather it goes away...and it will.

Too bad those handing over our rights can't grasp this simple truth and the remifications of it.

I believe we follow Eisenhower's advice and the police, especially the Feds, protect our Constitutional rights against attack by locals especially extreme religious hate groups. What rights have been hadnded over, can anyone tell us?

Waffler, I'm in agreement with you. The extreme religious hate groups of the fascist theocracy, the current grand poo-bah pastor being Obama is/are attacking and destroying the Constitution. By way of example, but not limitation, rights that have been handed over fall under compelled compliance, license, victimless crimes, larceny (theft of the noble laborer's fruit, a fiat / central bank not of We The People, etc. - have you read how the Chinese laughed at the fascist theocracy's financial minister's hat in hand begging), elimination of habeas corpus, government of man's supplanting of the government of law, etc., etc., etc.

I do not like the term 'constitutional rights' because it implies that the Constitution tells us what our rights are -- it doesn't. And as the Constitution gets more corrupted into a rule book for the people instead of the original rule book for the government, we will start calling government subsidies 'rights.' For example we do not have a right to an education -- we have a RESPONSIBILITY for an education. (People hate the word responsibility -- they prefer 'rights' that some 'elected' offical will 'provide' for them.)

I suppose a right like free speech would be included, yet it seems like the current administration has a problem with criticism of the porkulus program. Apparently Norm Eisen, special counsel to the president for ethics and government reform, thinks that any one who disagrees must be shut up. "...we will expand the restriction on oral communications to cover all persons, not just federally registered lobbyists. For the first time, we will reach contacts not only by registered lobbyists but also by unregistered ones, as well as anyone else exerting influence on the process. We concluded this was necessary under the unique circumstances of the stimulus program." Free speech for me, but not for thee. There's your hope and change. Yes, we can't.

Responsibility to ones own independence, a lesson not to long ago, looked forward to, but now, looked down upon by many young upstarts, and some not so young. Till they see a responsible independent receive favor. It works for some, others become contentious wanting only the handout !

Eisenhower should have said, "Constitutional Protections" .. because - the U.S. Constitution does not GIVE US our rights .. but, instead PROTECTS our rights.
Every person born throughout the world is born with Natural Unalienable Rights that cannot be liened away. It is only through despots, dictators and mob rule that those natural unalienable rights are abused, aborted and deleteriously violated.

Instead of "Constitutional Rights" I would have said, "Constitutional Protections," because the U.S. Constitution does not Give Us Our Rights ... We all were BORN with them.
