Nice quote, and very true today as it was back in Mr. Paine's day. But let me ask you all this, Have anyone, as I have, wondered why it is that while we as conservatives will fight fight a wrong or a threat, once we conceive the matter solved we return to our own lives and tend to leave the arena of debate. The left on the other hand will fight on no matter they win, lose, or draw. what is it that drives them and keeps them in the game long after we have gone back to our own business ?

Robert, of ST. Emillion, Thank you! Plato's "Cave" reminds me of another metaphor, "Crab Bucket Syndrome" . The problem as I see it, is how does one who is enlighten, go about bring others to the light without being killed for their efforts? Liberty / Freedom, independence are just one section of the wheel of the history of mankind, the other sections include slavery,rebellion, freedom, laziness, indifference, oppression, tyranny & we start over again.

We are our own person but, we are being seduced and a whore is not worth her salt unless she can seduce her master.

I think the west is rapidly loosing the fight for the hearts & minds of its people & the will to fight for liberty. We, the people, are being purposely dumbed down to accept the idea that Big Government knows best.
