Heraclitus Quote

“Whosoever wishes to know about the world must learn about it in its particular details. Knowledge is not intelligence. In searching for the truth be ready for the unexpected. Change alone is unchanging. The same road goes both up and down. The beginning of a circle is also its end. Not I, but the world says it: all is one. And yet everything comes in season.”

~ Heraclitus

It's a big universe. We are but tiny specks on the side of a dust ball floating through space. And yet each speck has within it another universe... (deep, huh?) ;-)

Mike, Norwalk

Archer, hmm, I like it :-) :-)

Of course. But I especially like knowledge is not intelligence as evidenced so frequently on this blog.

    "Change alone is unchanging."

Heraclitus would never have made it as a Christian.

"Change alone is unchanging" - if that statement is true and all things change, then at some time the truth of that statement will change.

In other words, it's nice poetry, but it's stupid logic.

Colin and Mike, precisely, and that is the point. I suppose with your thinking Einstein had stupid logic too! change is absolute, it has no master. The point Heraclitus makes is spot on and follows the thinking of eastern guru's  those Greeks were way above their time  if only Americans could learn from these great thinkers, alas we are so wrapped up in our greed and desires, that our minds become idle. Let's put it this way  it will Colin and Mike, precisely, and that is the point. I suppose with your thinking Einstein had stupid logic too! change is absolute, it has no master. Saad Al Melik, Saad Al Sund, "the record of the pouring forth, who goeth and returneth. Sabr, "who returns as in a circle", some things are worth repeating over and over. There is more to the quote than meets the eye.

Ok I'll bite: Change has nothing to do with change/   like truth has nothing to do with truth. Change and Truth are absolute regardless what you think. Lets deal with reality and not some VERY distant probability. "Change is inevitable. Change is constant." Benjamin Disraeli. "When you're finished changing, you're finished: Benjamin Franklin. "Absolutes are Coercion. Change is absolute."  Allen Ginsberg. And the list goes on, and on.....

Actually taken loosely from collections on the state of the world during King Solomon's reign. Just read the book of Ecclesiastes...Solomon was the wisest man who ever lived...and considering the complete lack of "scientific" evidence, made statements on the state of the world and the order of the universe that have only recently been "proven" by scientific means. Many deny there is a Supreme Creator that has designed this world in ways that the "evolutionists" miss entirely...and no doubt deliberately. Nothing in this world is a mistake, and man kinds attempts to control "climate" or otherwise are a foolish endeavor...man in NOT in charge and never has been.

Point well made Denise, Durango, king Solomon would have used the word, season ( eth ) appointed time, time of visitation, Solomon's transition to the throne. " A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good it is !" Solomon was ravished by one eye and one chain. As Paul stated it comes from "due measure" season ( kairos ) a time, a period, posessed of certain characteristics, a time of fulfillment of prophecy. These are the days and have returned again, the feller has come upon many trees, yet now, the oak caste its fruit in his season. " The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned."

Paul is the pattern, now, to all those who would here after believe. "There is little Benjamin with his ruler".

The words "eth" and "kairos" due season,Hebrew and Greek concur, a time of fulfillment of prophecy, as Paul and Timothy both bear their own prophecy of arrival.
