“Unrestrained political authority, though it be confided to masses, cannot be trusted without positive limitations, men in bodies being but an aggregation of the passions, weaknesses and interests of men as individuals.”

A couple of thoughts. Unrestrained political authority, can NOT be confided to masses lawfully or in reality. Any and all political authority uniquely and lawfully arises from individual sovereigns. Tyrants with sufficient support to threaten with physical / fiscal / mental / etc. harm can not trust individual sovereigns united (they inherently exist with inalienable rights and liberty at nature's law). The here "positive" reference to "positive limitations" is a deceptive call for legal positivism (a legal philosophy of certain carnal men being gods over the masses).An "aggregation of the passions, weaknesses and interests of men as individuals" is a perception diametrically opposed to the noble being — man's status, nature's law and justice.

Is not the authentic man a bastion, paragon, the living fortification of moral authority and expression?
