Laws? Liberal had an entirely different meaning then than now. "wise and useful" hmmmm. "no expense . . . thought extravagant."

I have no idea what he had in mind.

Both Adams and Jefferson approved of the government's support of educating the populace. I suppose I am confused as to how the federal government was paid for in those days -- there were no income taxes, and the states paid the federal government themselves via the excise taxes they collected, I believe.

What they may not have imagined was the establishment of a Department of Education that determined the content of the education system which then gets taken over by the enemy and rewrites Americanism entirely until the free republic has been transformed into a socialist democratic state.

Harvard is not the same as when Adams attended!
