Thomas Paine Quote

“What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed, if so celestial an article as Freedom should not be highly rated.”

and what we have obtained "to cheap" for the last 30 years is 11 trillion dollars of debt. It is now for time for true patriots to stand for financial frredom. Freedom from the national debt which will require the payment of "a proper price".

It seems that most people will give up "freedom" for "security" , thus we have the "welfare state."

You can blame Americans for allowing their government to devolve into a 'democracy' whereby the majority may vote away the private property and earnings of one man to give to another (while taking a sizable percentage along the way). 'Free lunch' policies have bankrupted the nation because we allow Congress to simply print up interest-bearing notes to buy votes and fund their corporate partners. Politicians get rich off of government spending. Obviously Americans today esteem the will of the majority and unlimited credit more than freedom and responsibility.

A thing given has no value.
So it is with good reason that Heaven requires us to re-purchase our freedom and rights . It was 'WE' afterall who gave them away.

Rex Robinson, Florence

FREEDOM, like everything else, if not labored for isn't valued nearly enough. It is our human nature that gives freedom it's value and our virtue is the only honest appraiser.
