Viktor FranklViktor Frankl, (1905-1997) Austrian neurologist and psychiatrist. Former prisoner of a Nazi concentration camp

Viktor Frankl Quote

“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.”

Yes, it is all about attitude, attitude, and attitude! Apostle Paul said, "I can live in a castle on a hill or in the the lowest ditch and still be happy."

I showed this to my teenage son, who is in a phase of life where he could truly appreciate both the statement and the source of same.

I love this quote and use it often

This is quite good. In line with one of Eleanor Roosevelt's that I like - paraphrased... The only person who can take away your dignity is you.

"The last of human freedoms..." Let's hope it doesn't come to that, for the same argument can be made by an oppressor to would-be slaves. Afterall, we can accept any violation of rights if we but merely change our attitude -- that doesn't make it just.

Waffler (-; I like it a lot; not doubting your memory ;-) but, knowing that retired IRS agents and super indoctrinated progressives may get confused at times, can you give me the chapter and verse of your apocryphal source.

On another note; my mother had a close friend that carried the tattooed ID donned from the Nazis - and - she basically said the same thing. It was a mantra she raised her children with.

Patrick Henry, Red Hill

The perfection of human dignity is revealed in those who are so Virtuous as to not be susceptible to being comprehensively conformed to the form of a loveless, fallen, world.

As it is written:

" And be ye not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptible, and perfect, will of God."

~ Romans 12:2
