We now have thousands of laws and the scary part is that congress meets every day to pass more. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/21/12 re: Georges Ripert quote Just because something is legal doesn't mean it's right. Drug laws are one example. 3 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/18/12 re: James Madison quote The majority of the folks in Germany supported Adolph Hitler almost till the last gun was fired. Mark Twain was right on with his quote. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/18/12 re: Claire Wolfe quote The problem with working"within the system" is this. We get all worked up at election time, try to get the good guys elected, and even if we do, nothing changes. Every administration spends more than the last one and we go deeper in debt and into socialism. If we expect government to make our lives better we are barking up the wrong tree. 3 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/16/12 re: Benjamin Franklin quote It's exactly correct no matter who said it. It's especially true now with that bunch of socialists and muslims running things in D.C. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/16/12 re: Auberon Herbert quote Libertarians believe that you can live as you please as long as you don't cause harm to others. I agree and wish that liberals would agree and leave folks alone. As good Democrat Woodrow Wilson said: "Government, in it's last analysis, is organized force". 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/15/12 re: Mark B. Cohen quote Maybe he means that when your favorite candidate wins, nothing much changes. The Repubs and the Dems are really the same party. The only party worth voting for is the Libertarian Party. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/15/12 re: Charles de Gaulle quote Public Servents: Persons chosen by the people to distribute the graft. Mark Twain 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/15/12 re: Charles-Louis de Secondat quote George Burns once said that the perfect sermon was to have a good opening, a good close, and to keep those as close together as possible. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/8/12 re: P. J. O'Rourke quote As usual, P.J. has it right Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/8/12 re: James Smith quote Translation: The more you send the more they spend and it's never enough. 4 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/7/12 re: William James quote Further proof would be Obama saying that he is trying to improve the nation's economy. 3 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/7/12 re: William James quote "I'm from the government and I'm here to help" is proof of that quote. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/7/12 re: Samuel Taylor Coleridge quote Beware when politicians talk up tax reform. Tax reform is code for tax increase. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/7/12 re: William Henry Harrison quote This reminds me of a politician trying to get a hare-brained spending bill passed. They almost always say that the people demand it when you can't find a soul that demanded anything. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/3/12 re: Mark Twain quote Government bureaus are a great example, they last forever no matter how bad they are. When they prove to make matters worse they aren't done away with, they just get more money and get bigger. The War on Drugs and the Department of Energy are prime examples. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/3/12 re: James Madison quote J and Cal have summed it up. 3 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/1/12 re: James Madison quote Theft is legal when the tax collectors do it. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/1/12 re: John Stuart Mill quote "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victims may be the most oppressive..... It would be better to live under robber barons than omnipotent moral busybodies." C.. Lewis 7 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 4/30/12 re: Justice William O. Douglas quote I'm with J on this one. We need to get out of the Communist controlled UN before it's too late. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 4/30/12 re: Justice Robert H. Jackson quote People will give up anything and everything when a war is in progress. WW2 was a great example and that's why there is always some sort of war in progress. It's a great way for government to control people. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 4/27/12 re: Sir Winston Churchill quote As to the quote, Winston is right and Obama is wrong. King "O" wants to raise taxes and has the gall to tell us that this is the debt solution. He knows it isn't but Socialists like Obama love high taxes and he has no intention of solving the debt situation. He loves it. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 4/27/12 re: Sir Winston Churchill quote After Restons comment, is there any doubt that the man is a communist. I thought for awhile that he was only a fellow traveler or a useful dupe, but now he has removed all doubt. Dick must be attending party meetings also if he agrees with Reston. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 4/26/12 re: Shirley Peterson quote There is nothing fair about a graduated income tax, sorry Dick. Beware of the flat tax idea as it will probably be set very high by our friends (fiends) in the Congress. My idea would be to get rid of 90% of all government bureaus, stop most, if not all, subsidies and foreign aid, and there would be no need for an income tax or most other taxes. We could also save a few hundred million by making Pelosi fly on regular airlines, preferably coach, and stopping all those million dollar vacations by Michelle and her herd. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 4/26/12 re: Santo Presti quote The IRS official name for us citizens is "inventory". That should tell even nitwits like waffler something. Previous 25 Next 25 SaveOk2 Share on Facebook Tweet Email Print
