Points taken Mike. As you say, my comment may be a little simplistic.

Wow Waffler, again you make unrealistic comparisons based on "nothing". The IRS just like every other tax agency in every other western nation works directly for the central banks of those nations. Their mandate being to enrich the central bankers, not to provide infrastructure. It's a Ponzi scheme of the highest order and you know it! So it doesn't matter if you live in England, Australia, Canada or the US now does it? As for making beer in Germany, well look at you! You've just pointed out why Government protectionism doesn't work to promote free enterprise. You must completely astound yourself at times. ;-)

And again Waffler ignores the laws of economics and human nature. And of course the Government and the unjust tax system of tyrrany and control have nothing whatsoever to do with these conditions right Waffler? The IRS sure did a number on you didn't they? You really are "Their Boy".

Odd isn't it, that the government will pay dairy farmers in one part of the country to "not" produce, while subsidizing Monsanto to produce chemical injections that increase milk production in other parts of the country. Chemical injections that actually make the dairy cow quite ill and produce sub standard milk...it's insane. Some Canadian kids made a documentary called "The Corporation" that address this and many other issues. Smart kids!

Mike, it's all about "control". Most of what needs to be licensed (according to the PTB) is due to their need to be notified and out need to pay "homage to our masters". A marriage license for example is required for only one reason...to register two people as one "tax unit", making each responsible for the other's tax position. It is corrupt from top to bottom.

When the small businessman finds himself spending far too much of his productive time and money paying homage to the leviathan bureaucratic government he does indeed cease to exist. Why bother when too much lost time and profit make the venture no longer worth while? This is another aspect of why Socialism is a disease on free people...why it is the great destroyer...

J Carlton, Calgary

Slaves do not invent. Slaves are not motivated. Slaves are not ambitious. Only in a free and liberated environment will you see scientific, medical, architectural or engineering advancement. As the popular saying in the old USSR went..."They pretend to pay us, we pretend to work". And that's how socialism really works.

If it moves, tax it, If it keeps moving, regulate it, If it stops moving, subsidize it. Ronald Reagan on the effects of "too much Government"

According to the new Politically Correct doctrine; Truth is the new hate speech.

Peter? Are you a Communist? Because you sound exactly like Che Guevara. The problem is "Central Bankers who OWN our Government. Without "capitalism" we might as well move back to the caves. The two things have nothing to do with each other, but you must have the eyes to see it and the mind to understand it.

Wafflerin what way does "our" hard earned money belong to the Government or anyone else who doesn't earn it? It's one thing to pay taxes on goods or services to maintain infrastrucure, it's quite another to be robbed right at your paycheck to service the interest...just the "interest" on loans of worthless paper made to the Government by a private corporation. It's extortion, period.

That's a pretty darned good observation Hanson, I'm impressed. :)

J Carlton, Calgary

Actually Hanson's reference to the "Money Changers" is relevant in terms of the Central Bank / Government cronyism aspect of things...which has nothing whatever to do with private entrepeneurial ventures.

J Carlton, Calgary

Don't hold your breath waiting for an answer Mike.

J Carlton, Calgary

Hanson's right...Canada's foreign policy is the same one as every other member of the United Nations, just like every other member of the IMF. So it must be "the best", just like everyone else's. ;-) Wow Hanson, you're really naieve aren't you?

J Carlton, Calgary

People will always respect what they themselves have worked for. So called "freebies" from Government or any other source are taken for granted and shown little regard.

J Carlton, Calgary

Thanks Mike. I guess I should have included "corporate welfare" in that statement too. Hopefully it's implied. ;-)

J Carlton, Calgary

And Waffler comes through again, right on time, proving he is completely nuts.

J Carlton, Calgary

Do your own homework Waffler and quit behaving like a lazy child having a tantrum. You lazy indoctrinated statists are the cancer that is killing the greatest nation in history and you want people to show you what YOU are doing? get real tax boy...

Actually Reston, "Socialism" will send us all back to the cave much sooner. Socialism has no way to support itself and fails everytime leaving a devastated economy in it's wake without fail...The Eurozone is an excellent example of destroying an economy through massive wealth redistribution and money out of thin air... But fear not, they will have a little more time as the Fed and Bank of Canada come to the rescue...with money out of thin air...

J Carlton, Calgary

It's really a very simple trick and it works well on very simple people...impoverish the masses through taxation, inflation and cumbersome regulation, then "save" them from it all with welfare. And now you have a nation of dependants. Cute trick.

J Carlton, Calgary

You're right about that Byron. There's always a hidden agenda...and so called "unintended consequences". Man is generally at his best when left to invent, create and produce without Government intervention.

J Carlton, Calgary

Hanson, you need to look in your own back yard before casting stones. Canada has a mirror law for everything you seem to despise. Perhaps you would quit basing your "opinions" on sound bytes and propganda. Wake up! My God, but you are a nasty little socialist. BTW, Canada is as much my country as yours, like it or not.

J Carlton, Calgary

PS Hanson, while Canada's Banking system is indeed more sound than most, it is now being used to "bail out" the Euro, which is a complete waste of money. So being the last banking system to go down the toilet isn't much consolation is it? Because it will go down with the rest...

Hanson, the Omnibus Crime Bill going through Parliament is Canada's own little Patriot Act. And Canadians have had no rights other than those "granted" ever since Trudeau's enactment of Martial law and the Military Commissions Act. As far as the Chrter goes, have you ever read it? What's really notable about it is what "isn't" said. Like what rights you actually do have...none! It's nothing but vague legalese. Wake up!
