Robert Higgs Quote

“But politicians who talk about failed policies are just blowing smoke. Government policies succeed in doing exactly what they are supposed to do: channeling resources bilked from the general public to politically organized and influential interests groups.”

~ Robert Higgs

The Myth of “Failed” Policies, The Free Market, June 1995.

Wow. That IS the size of it, perfectly illustrated by the Obamanation's Solyndra debacle. TERRIFIC quotation.

and so he'd send us back to the caves...

Actually Reston, "Socialism" will send us all back to the cave much sooner. Socialism has no way to support itself and fails everytime leaving a devastated economy in it's wake without fail...The Eurozone is an excellent example of destroying an economy through massive wealth redistribution and money out of thin air... But fear not, they will have a little more time as the Fed and Bank of Canada come to the rescue...with money out of thin air...

The 'A' from Reston, WHAT ? ? ? Are you saying in your socialist double speak perspective that Keynesian economics, anti-entrepreneurial philosophies, regulating jobs out of existence, killing food production, legislating poverty into existence, compelled compliance, license, victimless crimes, larceny with impunity and the loss of inalienable rights is going away from the cave ? I'm with Byron on this one, WOW. Extremely accurate in the observation and analysis !

E Archer, NYC

The mistake is believing that the government is screwing up, that they are complacent, they don't know what they are doing -- no, they DO know what they are doing, we don't -- not until it is too late, that is. If you grade the President on what campaign promises he made, it would be a C- at best. If you grade him on what he accomplished for his financial sponsors, he got an A. And so did Bush and Clinton -- all A's for how they helped put a little more into their pockets and to those whom they are beholden. How do you know a politician is lying? His lips are moving.

E Archer, even if his lips ain't moving, he's thinking up his next lie. As to the quote, it sums things up in Washington perfectly.
