Di Leo quote Thanks to Mike and J.B. for excellent comments. The term "petty tyrant" is very descriptive of the Pelosi , Reid , and Obama bunch. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 9/7/11 re: George Washington quote My favorite Quote by Washington: "Government is not reason, it is not elequonce, it is force, and like fire, it is a dangerous servent and a fearful master." Another great saying by I forgot who is this. "No man's life , liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session". To prove both of these quotes just look at the goings on in Washington nowadays. 1Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 9/6/11 re: Texas Declaration of Independence quote Waffler knows as much about Texas as I know about atomic fusion, which is nothing. Surrounded in Connecticut has it right. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 9/5/11 re: Charles T. Sprading quote Republicans always talk about lowering taxes and spending cuts, but never seem to get around to doing it. Truth be told, Repubs and Dems are two sides of the same coin. That is just one of the reasons I am a Libertarian. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 9/5/11 re: Alexis de Tocqueville quote Byron, You described our current president perfectly with the word,"narcissistic". It's always all about him. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 9/2/11 re: Robert Baird quote How true. Here's a great quote from the Buddha: "Believe nothing, no matter where you read it , or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and common sense." This applies to everything including the Bible. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 9/2/11 re: Neal Boortz quote Mary,Largo, I think you miss Boortz' point. He 's suggesting that you would be stupid to expect government schools to teach school children to question government authority. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 9/1/11 re: Thomas Merton quote A great quote from C.S.Lewis. Byron, thanks a million for sending this. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 9/1/11 re: Thomas Jefferson quote I find it hard to tolerate the likes of the Obama, Pelosi, and Obama gang. I do, however, think that they all need another term, 20 to life sounds about right. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/31/11 re: Tom Wicker quote The press in America is now 99% sold out to anyone or anything promoting big government. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/31/11 re: Judge Learned Hand quote "And no man's life or property is safe when the legislature is in session." 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/31/11 re: Virginia Woolf quote This quote flies in the face of all those who promote the absurdity known as political correctness. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/30/11 re: Milton Konvitz quote It would be nice to have a "free press" but they sold out to the "progressives" a long time ago. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/30/11 re: Jeremy Bentham quote I'm with Byron on this. The war on drugs is a perfect example of the desire to control others for their own good. And don't forget the busybodies who are always telling you to eat your veggies. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/29/11 re: Pierre Trudeau quote I agree with J, Mike, and Tom. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/29/11 re: Thurman Arnold quote We do have some nutty judges in this country. The scary part is these federal judges who are appointed for life. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/29/11 re: Larry Flynt quote Years ago I saw a copy of Hustler magazine and found it mostly boring. It sure ain't my cup of tea but if someone wants to read that sort of trash, I figure it's their busines, not mine. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/26/11 re: Laurence J. Peter quote To find out why things almost always go wrong, read "The Peter Principle". Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/26/11 re: Krzysztof Kieslowski quote Right on, J Carlton. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/25/11 re: Carey McWilliams quote Reston is correct. David Lee , I'll cut you a little slack since you live in the same state that had the Scopes Monkey Trial. See "Inherit The Wind". 4 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/24/11 re: Voltaire quote The house cleaning mentioned by J Carlton is long over due. As to Obama, I think he needs another term, 20 years to life sounds about right. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/19/11 re: Robert G. Ingersoll quote The first 3 lines of this quote are exactly 180 degrees wrong. As I read further I thought of all the people in jail for doing nothing more than smoking marijuana, a substance far less harmful than tobacco and alcohol. They now have a prison record and will have a near impossible task of finding a job. This stupid war on drugs ruins many more lives than it could ever possibly save. Some day we may have the wisdom to send it the way of alcohol prohibition which lasted from 1920 to 1933. We can at least hope. We can only hope. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/19/11 re: Pierre-Joseph Proudhon quote Roger Clemens was on trial for lying to Congress. Does anyone see the irony here ? Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/19/11 re: Lenny Bruce quote I'm with Mike on this one. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 8/17/11 re: Woodrow Wilson quote Well said, E Archer. At least there is one voice of sanity in NYC. Previous 25 Next 25 SaveOk2 Share on Facebook Tweet Email Print
