In CANADA we have a Charter Of Rights And Freedoms that is, apparently more sound than y'all's Constituton. Something like our banking laws 1Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 12/13/11 re: Oath Keepers quote I just heard, Carlton, that your Senate just passed a bill that would allow your police to keep one of your citizens in jail without cause or without being charged. Congradulations your country has reached a new low; a little closer to Nazi Germany. 1Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 12/13/11 re: Oath Keepers quote You see in Canada, Carlton, in CANADA we don't have to worry about that crap; we have a Charter that is apparently more sound than your Constitution. What a tragedy; you had it all and you threw it away. 1Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 12/5/11 re: Charles de Montesquieu quote Why do you suppose some of the greatest quotes on freedom come from France? Because these people got out and fought their oppressors. The Takeover people have the right idea. At least they're doing SOMETHING. While you guys just sit around and birch. If you believe in liberty you should support them. They need a strong leader; this is where you can walk the walk. Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 12/5/11 re: Mark Twain quote That's pretty humourous; your beloved SLC would called you a Conservative Sheep, Carlton. What are you doing in Canada, anyway? Really, you have no place here. Your rhetoric is the antithesis of what every true Canadian believes. You're not satisfied with screwing up your own country, you have to ruin mine? Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 11/23/11 re: Friedrich August von Hayek quote Once again the US and A taking on the attributes of those they once opposed. It just makes one think that The Dead Kennedy's were right about America: Give Me Convenience, or Give me Death. You guys will latch on to anything that will make you money; e.g. Prescott Bush and the IBM startup. Oh, yeah. This one should be on the front page of NYTIMES, LA TIMES - every day. 1 Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 11/22/11 re: Frederic Bastiat quote Right now I'm workig with a bunch of Brits and it's not only irritating, but down right infuriating when they pull their heir hiarchial bullshiit. I mean honestly, when we have had our own country for almost 200 years ...WTF? I guess they'll be pompus assess forever. The one thing I do know for a fact is that th British taught the Gemans everything about geonocide and they taught the US and A everything they know about Imperialism. You have become the thing you started out hating; the thing you fought against so hard; you have become you're father. 3 Reply L. hanson, Edmonton, Canada 11/22/11 re: Frederic Bastiat quote I love Bastait; but I think the dates are about 50 years off. Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 10/10/11 re: Mark Twain quote Why would anyone quote Ronald Reagan, except to make an example of the crimes that he committed against his own people. Why there is still people that revere this criminal is beyond me. Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 10/10/11 re: Eric Schaub quote Mike from Norwalk keeps talking about the Ten Planks of Communism; how about the Ten Steps To Dictatorship. It began in earnest with Ronald Reagan and "dub-ya" was just the meat puppet to seal the deal. All the steps have been completed; now it's just a matter of slipping the noose. This little back lash against Wall Street is just the excuse your government will need to declare martial law and suspend elections. Now there's some truth. Why do I know? A little civil action called the Winnipeg General Strike. EVERYONE went on strike; except essential services, which included milk delivery. The military came in - women stood by their men with their babies in their arms and the citizens won. Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 10/4/11 re: John Adams quote This is a great one for the WWJD crowd. As a Canadian I can say with absolute conviction that we find it offensive in the extreme when the religious right tries to invade our lives. You-all might believe it; or think you believe it; or pretend to believe in the imperical truth of the seperation of church and state, but here, we live it. Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 8/31/11 re: Judge Learned Hand quote One thing I have to admit about us in Canada and Canadians in general; we take our freedom, our land, our resources for granted. We never had to fight a war for our freedom as you in the USA did. Without that sense of sacrifice that gives the freedom you have as something that was won - and will fight to maintain; because you honor those that made the sacrifice, it will be taken for granted and easily lost. Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 8/29/11 re: Pierre Trudeau quote J, get over it. He's still recognized world-wide as the greatest Prime Minister this country every had. Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 8/25/11 re: Carey McWilliams quote We had a great Prime Minister in Canada that said, "The government has no place in the nation's bedrooms." Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 8/25/11 re: Arthur Lelyveld quote Why are they censoring Ron Paul? He's the last person I would agree with politially, but as the runner-up by a few hundred votes in the Iowa Straw-Poll his name hasn't been mentioned once in any of the news outlets as a contender. Y'all's sytem is incredibly flawed. Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 8/23/11 re: Donald Thompson quote When we see the firing of whistle blowers and the stifiling of solid scientific evidence; the shoe fits on the right foot as easily as the left: What is the Right afraid of? In Canada the Right is totally terified of inspectors that exposes huge gaps in our food safety programs; scientests that have solid evidence of the damage caused by heavily polluting industries. The Right afraid of the truth getting to the public who will demand more food inspectors; better monitoring of water and air quality and laws put in place to ensure the protection continues. Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 8/10/11 re: George S. Boutwell quote Archer; that was true at one time. But over the last century the rights and role of the Monarchy has been severely limited. Yes, it is still present in our system of government as we still recognize it as the chair from wich all authority is granted. But having been granted, those are the authorities that take precident and set policy. The crown can only intervene to veto an act of Parliment. It may not incite acts on its own. The Crown is still needed to allow certain changes to take place like the re-drawing of electoral boundaries. But our rights (Charter of Rights and Freedoms) were patriated decades ago and having been enacted without intervention are entrenched and can not be removed or altered except by an act of Parliment. This would be subject to veto by the Crown. Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 8/10/11 re: Spiro Agnew quote Lugoff; I think this was put here as a jibe to the right and perhaps the Tea-baggers as well - anyone who thinks elitism and entitlement, right or left, will lead to disaster. As far as the left not having a sense of humour: Bill Mahr demonstrated this on Real Time a couple weeks ago. He had a Obama impersonator do his routine because he was off stage of a convention of some Democrat stripe. I thought it showed how balanced Mahr can be if he gives it an effort. Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 8/10/11 re: George S. Boutwell quote Jim; neither Lincoln nor the slaves are mentioned in the quote. Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 8/10/11 re: Frank Chodorov quote Mary; the conditions of Detroit and Flint MI were not the result of state capitalism. It was the result of unbridaled corporate greed that saw a single minded need to destroy organized labour as the core of their mission. The destruciton of the communities were just colateral damage to them. 1 Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 8/10/11 re: George S. Boutwell quote I would like to hear what a true historian, one with insight and vision has to say about George S. Bothwell. Truly his experience from the Civil War made such a deep impact that he would have such clarity. He is prophetic in his perception of what the nation he probably once loved, would eventually become. Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 8/10/11 re: Frank Chodorov quote Both equally instrumental to the advancements of the civilizations that produced them, and the similarities don't end there; in both cases war and slavery provided the resources for their production. 33Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 8/9/11 re: Phelps Adams quote Jim, your ignorance speaks volumes. And quite frankly, I would have expected something a little more thoughtful from J. Carlton. 17Reply L. Hanson, Edmonton, Canada 8/9/11 re: Phelps Adams quote This quote is based on ignorance and ommission. The original motivation of Communism was to end starvation through people working together for a common goal of self sufficincy. Then the comma was added and the system was corrupted. The intension of Capitalism may have been what's quoted, but as it exists now it must be modified to: "All men of a select group..." Reply L. The conition has been contrived to justify the author's intention. Previous 25 Next 25 SaveOk2 Share on Facebook Tweet Email Print
