Excellent statement from Thomas Sowell - as usual! I would rather see our representatives rescind all the bad and UN-Constitutional laws and Executive Orders that are currently in existence than to think of adding and creating more laws. It is long overdue to clean house - and that includes the Federal House of Representatives in which we have too many bad actors who keep usurping and violating our unalienable rights!

Chitty -- Yes there is a means to amend the U.S. Constitution and that means is through an Article V action which has never, ever taken place in regards to the 2nd Amendment, because so far the people have been wise enough to not let the government dismantle and amend the 2nd Amendment. The U.S. Constitution does not GIVE US our UNALIENABLE RIGHTS - because we were born with them. The constitution was written to PROTECT OUR UNALIENABLE RIGHTS from a despotic, and dictatorial government. It was promulgated NOT to protect the rights of the government, but to ENSURE the unalienable rights of the INDIVIDUAL and to keep the government in check and running rough-shod over WE THE PEOPLE.

Anonymous - It is not the place of government to take the fruits of someone's labor and dole it out to someone else. Nowhere is this allowed in the U.S. Constitution's enumerated and limited powers. Congress does not have that power or authority to be altruistic with the taxpayers money. It is up to the individual to decide and make that choice to help in charitable causes through their community, places of worship, et al. -- and as one individual helping another. Those in Congress who violate their oath and dole out other peoples money are all too often UNLAWFULLY buying votes and playing favorites to the detriment of others. Thus violating their sacred trust. Davey Crockett was upholding his oath of office to adhere wholly to every nuance contained within the four corners of the U.S. Constitution which he swore a sacred oath and thus made a sacred contract to uphold and adhere to.

Byron - Yes, Paul Robeson did go to the Soviet Union and came home a broken man. For all that he was truly a great entertainer, but during that time and because he was black he could not get the recognition and accolades that he so much deserved due to the very detrimental prejudice that was rampant in the U.S. during that era. Ironically, he discovered the same prejudice in the Soviet Union. He was a great sportsman, excellent baritone singer and actor. He deserved so much more than what he received.

Our government over the last 100 years has set-up unlawful laws and bureaucracies that have multiplied themselves and spread like a virulent virus. They have thus turned into a veritable system of government corruption running counter to the Supreme Rule of Law.

I reread Ayn Rand's 'Atlas Shrugged' this past year. Her book as a true today as it was yesterday and will be tomorrow. The unlawful and faceless federal bureaucracies (Politburos) are regulating and imposing fee's and fines to the extent of causing free enterprise and productivity to become impossible to exist.

Laws have been passed to make it a crime and yet the congress has made themselves immune from the very law they created. Martha Stewart went to prison because of being accused of the crime of Insider Trading. Nancy Pelosi and some of her elitist congressional colleagues on both sides of the aisle practice "Insider Trading" with impunity on a regular basis.
