Reread the quote. It said “JUST FEAR” as in justified, warranted and so forth. It did not say shoot first. READ. It doesn't say take a guess or do any thing you feel like. The ability of people to twist something into something else is incredible. Reply warren, olathe 10/9/07 re: George W. Bush quote Good imagination E Archer. We knew he had them because he used them and the terrorist groups have been tiring to use them against us but they don't know how to deploy them. We found nuke triggers, saran gas, and mustard gas. 500 canisters of saran gas were found but the press considered the matter closed so it dropped the story on it as fast as it could. "It has already been established that there were no weapons of mass destruction" one pundit said as an excuse for continuing the diatribe of "no weapons of mass destruction" in spite of the obvious facts in front of him. Just because he had them doesn’t change the fact that he didn't. That is a sample of the reasoning of the press and the American left. You can only start to understand it if you realize that to them the concept of truth is totally arbitrary- "what serves the party IS the truth". That communist concept is alive and strong in our press, in our present leadership of congress, and in university faculty lounges across this country. Reply warren, olathe 10/9/07 re: Edward R. Murrow quote They did decide they want freedom Joe. That is why they celebrated when the tyrants were deposed and why they are joining their countrymen in battle to keep what they now have. The combat death toll of Iraqi patriots fighting the terrorists is much higher than our troops suffer and they are continually increasing the size of their army and police force. 2Reply warren, olathe 10/9/07 re: Edward R. Murrow quote True that is why we need the patriot act and other measures to protect us. The data mining of international calls to isolate communications with the terrorist groups is a perfect example of what needs done. We need leaders that are a bit bolder like presidents in the past that would have done much more that just the anemic patriot act. 2 Reply warren, olathe 10/9/07 re: Charles Eliot Norton quote Anytime the press clamors for anything we should beware. 2 Reply warren, olathe 10/9/07 re: H. L. Mencken quote If men only died for ideas that were true there would be no dieing for ideas for no one would be ready to die to oppose them. Reply warren, olathe 10/8/07 re: Immanuel Kant quote War is waged because a tyrant is attacking or threatening his neighbors. Now the neighbor could be considered the entire world. True Kant, if I am not mistaken, was not familiar with liberty. Reply warren, olathe 10/8/07 re: John Quincy Adams quote He didn't like the U N with out even meeting any of them. It's not just our interest we are protecting, it’s our ass. Reply Warren, Olathe 10/5/07 re: Vladimir Ilyich Lenin quote Sorry, his brand of politics is alive and well in the U S congress, the ACLU, and American Universities. Reply warren, olathe 10/5/07 re: Joseph Paul Goebbels quote Good to see another sane person in here Eric. The idiocy recently has gotten to be over the top. Reply warren, olathe 10/5/07 re: William Lyon Mackenzie King quote Thanks Dana. Good to see reason. It seems to go out the window in here allot recently. Reply warren, olathe 10/5/07 re: George W. Bush quote Leo W. Livingston, Daytona Beach this ignorant diatribe is too easy to debunk. The mission of the aircraft carrier he landed on was accomplished. That is why the soldiers on the carrier put up the banner. They had a mission to depose Sadam and that was completed successfully. The press, as always, twisted it to mean something else. People that want to believe any thing negative about someone they don't like end up being used as "useful idiots" for the fascist press and left in this country. I may not like every thing that Bush has done but I wouldn't want to try to base my disagreements on any thing but fact. Blathering lies when trying to prove a point discredits the person repeating them whether he is aware of the truth or not. Reply warren, olathe 10/5/07 re: George W. Bush quote I guess we have a lot of people in here that can read any thing that Bush has said and interpret it to mean any thing they want. The selection of this quote is what I question. Why quote someone that is saying an obvious truth that doesn't reveal anything about the person that said it or any thing else. I would be more interested in knowing what stupid question was asked by whom to get this answer from him. I doubt that there is any person commenting on this site that has not uttered something that was not quotable material. The problem with this quote isn’t that it is wrong or shows some deeper meaning, it is just dull. Reply warren, olathe 10/4/07 re: William Lyon Mackenzie King quote Yes Dana. I am sure that it is much better to have Iran's leader (mama imanutjob or what ever his name is) run this country than to have things like the Patriot act. After all the government data mining terrorist communications threaten us all so much more. 2 Reply warren, olathe 10/4/07 re: Sir Francis Bacon quote How could anyone not see this as an absolute fact? If the quote did not have the word "just" in it would be debatable. Reply warren, olathe 10/3/07 re: Richard M. Nixon quote I hated Nixon during the 60's and the seventies. As I have matured I have found that he wasn't such a bad president and I have mellowed in my dislike for him. If he had had the wisdom to have been honest I probably would now respect him.. Reply warren, olathe 10/3/07 re: Council on Foreign Relations quote Great quote. Demonstrates why the founding fathers warned against foreign entanglements. You can find yourself between a rock and a hard place. Violate agreements with other nations or violate the constitution. Reply warren, olathe 10/3/07 re: John Dryden quote When the kings/tyrants days are over war will stop. In his day there was no freedom. Thankfully we aren’t as hopeless as it must have seemed back then. Thank God for George Bush. More leaders like him and war will eventually be thrown in the dust bin of history. Reply warren, olathe 10/2/07 re: Mao Tse-Tung quote "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun" was another of his. To bad someone didn't give him some of that power he spoke of. 1 Reply warren, olathe 10/2/07 re: Mao Tse-Tung quote I think he might be trying to say that there is no use for politics. Reply warren, olathe 10/2/07 re: Joseph Paul Goebbels quote Goebbels was not American. There is no basis for any such communist's claims of American imperialism. Someone needs to find out what imperialism is. It certainly is not giving people the opportunity for liberty where there was none before. Rabid hate for America can only be a hatred for liberty. Reply warren, olathe 10/2/07 re: Vladimir Ilyich Lenin quote Any concession when dealing with any tyrant will be viewed as weakness and inspire more demands and threats from him. If you are not dealing with a tyrant yor are not dealing with any threat ot war. 1 Reply warren, olathe 10/2/07 re: John Stuart Mill quote The tax from King George was with out representation. However small it was unjust in the eyes of our forefathers. The real agitation was that mother England was trying to create a monopoly in our market place. Tea in particular was being under priced at the expense of the English government in order to run American tea companies out of business and then have a monopoly in that business. That is what the Boston Tea Party was really all about. The tea in the harbor was a message to King George that we were not going to put up with him trying to have control over our enterprises. 11Reply warren, olathe 10/2/07 re: George Washington quote The thought that George's statement is archaic could only have validity in the event that the nature of man "evolves" past the use of war. Unfortunately if we ever get to the point that we relax due to an illusion of a permanent peace we will probably pay for that illusion dearly.
