The quote is correct for a true democracy. Fortunately we have modified it enough to make it more difficult for it to make drastic changes in a short amount of time. Envy is what a socialist/fascist politician uses to pervert the democratic process to take us away from out founder’s intent. It is the emotion that the founding fathers were warning could take over and destroys the country. They acknowledged that the public could eventually vote themselves a piece of the public pie which would devour the freedoms we have. Democracy, or at least our form of it, is not in any way based on envy. It is based on the philosophy that the common moral man can be trusted to participate in self government. To say that democracy is based on envy is to say it is not based on reason.

This is great on its literal intention. It speaks of individuals and groups of citizens. It does not apply to external forces or groups that are funded or organized by outside influences such as we have had with communism and terrorism.

It reads that the states are guaranteed it by the fed. To me that mean that the Federal government is assuring a republican form of government on the federal level for the benefit of the states. "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence" This to me is a guarantee by the Fed. Not a mandate from the Fed.

This is so obviously not true. The press would have loved this and we would never have heard the end of it if it actually happened. Bush is probably one of the biggest protectors of the constitution in Washington. The powers of the president include such things as the patriot act and much more under times of special needs such as war, subversion, secession, ect. This is the terminology used by someone that has an agenda not just reporting what happened. The person claiming this is true says he heard it third hand. Mike, the reason that you see more conservative types doing that type of work is because conservatives see a problem and do something about it. Liberals tend to look for someone to blame and transfer any actions required to government. Any perceived problem is viewed as a political opportunity by liberal politicians. Conservatives see it as a community service opportunity.
