Even if you read it in the Bible, if it doesn't make sense, don't believe it. Man can only walk on water if it's frozen. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/20/13 re: Mahatma Mohandas K. Gandhi quote We don't really have "courts of justice". Prosecuters aren't interested in justice, only convictions. Vestiges of Puritanism are still evident with this insane War on Drugs. We have made some progress since we stopped burning witches at the stake but we have a long way to go. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/17/13 re: Thomas Henry Huxley quote Jim, Stone Mountain and E Archer, really well said. I'm an ex fundamentalist and was raised in a Bible church, so I know what they believe. If someone should ask me if I'm a Christian, I would first ask them to define a Christian. It's hard to have an intelligent conversation or debate with anyone unless you define your terms. When fundamentalists come across something they don't quite get, their fall back position is that you have to have faith. I came across a great definition of faith as follows. " Faith is nothing more than pretending to know something that you don't know". Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/17/13 re: Robert G. Ingersoll quote Instead of a "king" in this quote, you can substitute the word " president". Oh, I forgot, Barry was elected king, at least he thinks so. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/17/13 re: Charles Dickens quote From the Buddha, "Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense". I doubt that anyone walked on water unless it was frozen. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/13/13 re: David Mamet quote That is the truth. George Orwell. Remember this when you hear a politician spouting off about anything. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/12/13 re: Justice William O. Douglas quote J says it better than I can.
