As PJ O'Rourke once said," If you think health care is expensive, wait till you see how much it costs when it's free." We are seeing this now. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/6/13 re: Nelson Mandela quote Yes, he was a communist. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/3/13 re: Rev. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/2/13 re: Sir James MacKintosh quote Justice and liberty do not emanate from inside the beltway, just the opposite. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 12/2/13 re: Albert Camus quote GWD, your thoughts on the U.N. are right on target. I do have some doubts about the comments on Bush. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 11/26/13 re: Lysander Spooner quote Mr. Spooner is usually right and this quote is no exception. The so called war on drugs is an example. People went to jail for the "horrible" crime of smoking pot and even having small amounts in their possession. We stopped burning witches at the stake but vestiges of puritanism still abound in this country. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 11/26/13 re: Aristotle quote I think that too much space was devoted to Waffler. The truth of the quote should be obvious to someone as confused as Waffler. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 11/26/13 re: Gloria Steinem quote Mike, the same for me. 3 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 11/25/13 re: Los Angeles Times quote The War on Drugs is the problem, not the solution. Check out LEAP, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition if you think this "War" is lowering drug use. It causes a multitude of problems and cures none, except to keep prison guards employed and jail builders busy. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 11/25/13 re: Edwin M. Schur quote Cal is right. 4 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 11/22/13 re: Sir Richard Francis Burton quote Good on you, Joe and Ken. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 11/21/13 re: Justice Louis D. Brandeis quote A man here in Austin got 25 years in prison because the prosecutor hid evidence that would have proved he was innocent. He later became a judge and this information became public and he was charged with withholding evidence. He was found guilty and sentenced to 10 days in jail of which he served 5 and was released early for good behavior. He did lose his law license and has to do about 300 hours of community service. Five days in jail, my, how the good old boys protect themselves. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 11/21/13 re: Frederic Bastiat quote With Mike and "someone from Georgia" we got off on religion.
