J. C. Watts, Jr. Quote

“We must be a people who dare, dare to take responsibility for our hatred and fears and ask God to heal us from within. And we must be a people of prayer, a people who pray as if the strength of our nation depended on it, because it does.”

We hold this truth to be self evident ! ! !

I doubt that prayer does much of anything , except to make the ones praying feel good about themselves.

Indeed, if you have no knowledge of the One to Whom you pray. You might think about getting to know Him...you will someday meet Him as all who've gone before, are alive now and those in the future will. That's not speculation. It's truth. Prayer has brought about miracles...but again, if you deny Him and care less about really knowing Him...don't bother.

Our nation was granted a " token for good" and the power of sovereignty projected upon it and the children of this nation by our Creator. I've seen a few sinking ships in my time, but not once have I seen an atheist on board. Our Creator's power of sovereignty/ His righteousness put to our account, " The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much " James 5:16 kjb

Does "The effectual fervent prayer" change God's mind about anything.?

According to your posture are you corrected. In this life liberty is paramount, one hopes for it in the next. Hence, saved by hope. I cherish my liberty, not to trust it to fools. Merry Christmas bro.

Jim k, Austin, good question, it does seem some prayers do count. but rather a personal situation, that is within your own heart. When looking at a bigger picture, there are those that have personal relationships that guide nations ,other than economics, and personal gain. Funny how that works. yes some prayers count more than others. fluid.

So much misconception or just plain lack of knowledge about God. IF you want to know more about Who He is  "The God You May Not Know" by Pastor David Jeremiah might open your eyes.
God is not some "entity" sitting on a cloud "out there" Who has no say in our lives, bad or good. He is involved in our daily lives whether you want to believe it or not. We live in a fallen world.
There is evil in the world. Bad things happen to good people. Things that we'll have no understanding of in this world. No I don't understand why it's allowed...but we make choices whether to chose it or chose Him. He hears all prayers...and we have no clue why He does or doesn't answer them. The Creator is not accountable to His creation. We will know someday.

We must pray and speak and act to save our nation. With God's help, we might succeed. After reading Romans is God even on 'our' side any longer as so many have turned their back on the Creator. I am praying to have a free and great America again, but the hate is huge among many, the integrity of many leaders is poor, and many in our population are turning their back on the One who can help us. Can we rise above these things? I pray we can.

Sorry sir, but we must be a rational people with rational solutions to real problems. There is simply no God to ask anything. To arrive at this fact is the way to calm fears and understand love which is part of this understanding, the understanding of what is real.
