“The philosophy of the classroom today will be the philosophy of government tomorrow.”

Today this statement is sadly true, though happily true if our education system would concentrate on ethics, tolerance and cultural differences.

And sadly, this quote makes a very poor statement about the quality of the education of the 50s, 60s, 70s & 80s which brought us today's government "by King George".

Educate your own children in the privacy of your own home.

As government has become more in control of education, costs have skyrocketed and performance has sunk. The chair of the MN Senate education committee said, on the floor of the Senate, that he did not think the Declaration of Independence should be included in our education because it is not part of law. Is it any wonder we are losing our nation to single world governance?

It is true whether we like it or not. That is why we should take a more active interest in what is being taught in government schools. It is not enough to teach your own children, but to make sure the neighbors get it right, too, else their numbers will likely overpower the reasonable.

“All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” The Godless socialism/fascism of todays classroom, tomorrow beasts of the government's burden.

I think that the quote attributed to Lincoln about classrooms today is not his.

Amen to Joe and E Archer. I think that if we could kick government out of education our country might actually become free in the future. As a matter of fact, I'll go so far as to say that getting government out of education should probably be the most important goal of anyone who loves freedom.

Search for "Fistgate" to see some more of what our Government is pushing in the classroom. And Remember, the Super-ream court has determinied that parents have "No Constitutional Right" to govern what "sex" details are taught to your children, at any age....

And how scary and ominous is that statement today!

This statement is true if government today makes smooth ground for students.

Makes perfect sense, math scores in decline for years budget deficits more out of control than ever. Much of the population has no understanding. Jefferson said democracy depends on an informed electorate. We should never again confuse public education with creating one.

I'm not much of a Lincoln fan and I really don't care whether he said this or not, but it is certainly true.

While I see Lincoln and his administration as one of America's great lies...he was none the less an intelligent man. Yes absolutely we have been completely corrupted by the indoctrination system. It has bred several generations of self entitled whiners who like to point fingers and cry "it's not fair". (Kind of like Anon from Reston) Fact is, "fair" is a concept of children and communists and has no real application in the real world. We are now voting for a bunch of control freaks hell bent on making us all equal. Meaning equally poor and equally miserable and subservient.

My education in the 50s was quite good so I trusted the 60s to do well with my kids...wrong! They know nothing about this country...I blew it as a parent. You must pay attention!

Well it is abundantly clear that Robert and Anonymous are products of our wonderful public education system. Robert, you have been so thoroughly indoctrinated by the minions of the NEA that you don't even know what you don't know. And Clark, Lincoln was very well versed in the Bible, no matter what the revisionist historians have taught you, and in Proverbs there is a verse that goes something like this "Train up a child in the way that he should go, and he will not depart from it".

This quote is really demonstrated in the life of Jimmy Carter. In school during the 1930's he states that every time his school teacher would leave the class room she would say, "Now study the lesson, you know any boy in this room could be President some day". I would appear that he took it to heart. Aw the power of subliminal or not so subliminal suggestion.

Marcia it is great to hear from someone from Hinsdale. I lived there at worked at the San (Hospital) in the 1980's. I disagree with your picking on Robert though. I think the humnaities is the soul of a good education. That is history, litierature, poetry, music etcetera. The rest will fall in place in time but are kids don't get enough of the good stuff.

This is really true for most if not all the people who runs the government has undergone training in the classroom.

If we teach people that they animals who are innocent victims today, they will grow up to become guilty predators tomorrow. The best way to become a predator is to live like you are a victim. We teach people in the schools that they are victims with no responsibility other than tolerance of other peoples' victimhood, and then wonder why they are intolerant, irresponsible people when they get in office.
