“Liberty and good government do not exclude each other; and there are excellent reasons why they should go together. Liberty is not a means to a higher political end. It is itself the highest political end.”

A simple idea really. Sadly it seems to be over the head of too many Americans.

Good stuff. In actuallity liberty may not truly exist without government.

Waffler, I here compliment you.

Liberty can exist without government (i.e. other men) but as long as there are a multiple of people in an area, RESPECT of one another's work and property will always place a limit upon one's liberty. Confusing liberty and power is the primary reason government is able to usurp the rights of the People.

The political end of this current bunch of thugs in Washington seems to be to destroy liberty in this country. I'm looking forward to trash removal on November 2nd, 2010.

We need bumper sticker and signatures on emails so that we can spread this around to those who learn only by sight...often the tv...but maybe bumperstickers when they drive. It certainly won't be mentioned in schools in this country....

I'm with you on this one J Carlton. I find it akin to pure clean fresh mountain water from it's origin when the simplicity of the truth shines through.
