Amen. For if the Patriot defends not his country, who will?

Joe, Rochester, MI

The patriotic deeds of our founding fathers would make them all terrorists today. How do we defend our country from our government when we give them permission to run our lives?

Stew, Fredericksburg

Too few citizens realize that the government & the country are not the same.

E Archer, NYC

But how will the patriot fair if there is no one who will come to his aid? While it cannot be legislated, we must also aid those who are being targeted as 'examples' to the rest. We mustn't let the government wield the power of millions upon an individual in order to deter future dissent.

Paul, Ottawa

In the hisotry of the US never has there been more truth to this quote..... today goverment has figured out fear trumps truth and which patriots seditious to many.

Dick Hitler, DC

The FEMA secret govt is getting ready to nuke Portland, Oregon, September they say ,the drills have begun, it's a favorite obsession of Cheney, watch the martial law they have exempted themselves from prosecution plus they've eroded all of our freedoms and will kill us to stay in power, are they our friends or treasonous thugs, be prepared for these scum and their next holocaust, be wary of their workers, be safe.

Gary J Pollock, Los Angeles

Unfortunately in this day and age, too few people understand the importance of a true Patriot.

warren, olathe

Good quote.

Crystal, Pittsburgh, P.A.

I agree with all of you on this that the goverment and country are not the same and what happened to America the land of the free, because of the brave! When this country first started we were allowed to speak our minds louldly, now in this day in age all we are allowed to do is protest quietly in our backyards. I'm a patriot and all I want to do is start something here, and if it comes down to, maybe, a war.

Its true, and too many today are asleep while there freedoms slip away 1 by 1. As Thomas Jefferson said: "If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. We are not free, we are more free in comparison to other countires but we are not free.

I'm a patriot then, but a peaceful one.

    Michael, Branson, MO

I think that folks need to utilize the power that the Founding Fathers gave us through the Jury and refuse to convict ANYONE of a law that does not fit the muster of the reason for government. The only reason...to protect our life, liberty and property. Any other reason is illegitimate and must be stopped by whatever means necessary.

    odysseus1959, Flint, MI

I love my country, but fear my government...

    Mike, Norwalk

The statist theocracy that now infests this, my land and country is not my government. The statist theocracy has declared that it has inherent right in toto aloof from 'We The People (in fact and law - it does not represent the individual sovereign - it stands as an independent hegemony)'; its standing armies division-ed into policing factions have only responsibility to protect government property and have no liability, responsibility, etc. to the individual sovereign (voting is to select legal entities to represent the statist theocracy, not 'We The People'); compelled compliance, license, victimless crimes, larceny with impunity, and governmental insurance plans (health, SS ponzi schemes, Medi..., etc.) are all evidence of the foreign despot; etc., etc., etc.

No man's life or property is safe when the legislature is in session.

    Justin, Elkland

For too long many of us were ready with our rifles but not with our voices. A government can only oppress those who consent to be oppressed.

    J Carlton, Calgary

In the situation in America today I define "Patriot" as one faithful to the Constitution and its intended principles. Arm yourselves and take out the trash in November.

    Nancy H., Lawrenceville, GA

When we start blindly following along with our government, that will be our sure destruction. We must, especially at this current time, fight for our freedom, and fight to get our nation back and restore it to the nation our founding fathers intended!

    Johann Hollar

This is what I have always been saying, defending the Constitution is patriotic not the government.

A true patriot regardless or government and country is one who is on the side of honesty and compassion - you need say no more.

    Waffler, Smith

Except this is totally untrue in a government of, by and for the people. To "defend" against the government in such a system is to attack your fellow man or the people, or since you are part of the people, it is to attack your self. Such behaviour should be cause for a sojounn in an insame asylum.

    Mike, Norwalk

Waffler, your comment has some merit. Currently though, there is no government of, by or for the people on the planet. The unconstitutional statist theocracy that now infests this land is but one example of an alien despot that does not represent the people, is foreign to a republican form of government, and is an enemy to the individual sovereign (We The People).

    Waffler, Smith

I am sorry you feel that way Mike. But thanks for seeing my point. As long as most of the people still believe it is a government of, by and for them, I would suggest that you not turn on or attack them until you get the majority on your side. And if you do that you will have no need to attack, right?

Any / all true believer(s) in individual sovereignty, inalienable rights, liberty, "the laws of nature and of nature's God", peace and prosperity has no need to attack but rather, may find himself in extreme defensive postures.

    James, Crossville

I do believe that the majority is just around the corner. The people are getting tried of all the corruption and anti-constitutional laws being passed and all the executive orders being written. This is and always will be a Republic not a democracy. This country is in trouble and the people know it.
