Laing Quote “The truth brings with it a great measure of absolution, always.”R. D. Laing ~ R. D. Laing [Ronald David Laing] (1927 -1989) Scottish psychiatrist Truth , Liberation , Salvation Ratings and Comments 1 Reply Patrick Henry, Red Hill 8/16/18 Necessarily, commonly, the Truth brings with it a great measure of condemnation. If that were not true, the evasion of it would not be the innovatively studious pursuit of multitudes of persons.Generally, absolution is begotten by repentance, which is born of remorse, which is conceived in those who, under the aegis of the tutelage of Truth, have been compelled to acknowledge their culpability, a conviction that proceeds from the realization of the presence of looming condemnation. Reply E Archer, NYC Patrick Henry, Red Hill 8/16/18 I thought the truth sets one free? ;-) Reply E Archer, NYC Patrick Henry, Red Hill, NYC 8/16/18 I do not believe the truth brings condemnation, it simply is what it is. I suppose in context, falling down is condemnation of one who disobeys gravity, but that is simply the natural law. If there is a judgement at all it is to be within oneself, and yes, without an atonement and change of heart/mind/behavior, the truth still being ignored, 'consequences' cannot be avoided. Reply E Archer, NYC 8/16/18 The "great measure of absolution" depends on the degree of falsehood one clings to, the truth being that which dispels and releases the hold. But there is no absolution from the truth or the consequences of letting go of lies. A great measure of responsibility comes with bringing forth the truth. Reply Vedapushpa, Bangalore/Bengalru-INDIA 8/18/18 'Satyameva Jayate" ... the Hindu Indian dictum means 'It is only the TRUTH that can take us Further'. Falsehood is not any substantial idea in itself .. It is only a 'coverup' or obstruction to the truth.... and once falsehood is exposed and brushed aside Truth becomes explicit and serves as a 'basis' for taking the idea or action 'FURTHER".
