The discussion is of liberty's origin or source. Those non-believing sons and daughters of liberty attribute the source to existence (and both are right - all rights are unalienable / inalienable). Liberty is a measurement at law. De jure government of the free has NO ! ! ! rights (to compel, license, create victimless crimes, to commit larceny (funny money; income / property tax, etc.) but, corporeal government has duties only. Thus, having NO ! ! ! rights, government can give NO ! ! ! liberty or rights - liberty is inherent in the individual being.

Essentially, 'liberty' is not granted from other men, it is our natural born right -- and responsibility. The ruling class will not accept such a notion -- might makes right, in their minds, and if we cannot defend our assertion, our inherent rights will not be treated as such -- until the next successful revolution, which history shows may be hundreds if not thousands of years away. America was born out of this declaration, and our fore-fathers fought and died for its ascendancy as the guiding principle for a free republic. The enemies of freedom have never ceased and I suppose will never cease -- the battle is for the hearts and minds of the people -- when enough of us believe we are not born subservient and subject to the dictates of other men, Liberty will carry the day once again.

No, we are given reason facilities to earn our liberties. Liberties are a complex condition, some available at times, others available at other times, the different liberties simply, at times, don't coexist at the same time. It is the reason facilities that try, if it possible, to attain as much freedom and unification as is possible. Liberties, in the "competition" mode are an exercise in reason and educational growing capacities.
