I give a thumbs down to the first sentence and five stars to the second. Originally the law was based on a well established common law and the beneficial order recognized through history as that of Nature's God. The opposite thereof has brought about a loss of individual sovereignty, a weakened society, and tyranny. The second sentence is proven correct by the Military Commissions Act, Patriot Act, etc.

I hate to think of a "necessity" of pretending to do one thing while actually doing another. I would prefer the practice of pretending to ...etc. What a pity we need laws to recognize ideas representing the exact opposite of established conduct.

Of course everyone has noticed how the titles of bills in congress often reflect the opposite of what the bill is intended to do.
