Voltaire never met a Republican or a pentecostal minister.

That I could rate this quote with innumerable stars a countless number of times ! ABSOLUTELY ! ! ! The occupying statist theocracy infesting this land recognizes no man's: rights, liberty, perfected allodium or the natural law common to all men. I will make "anonymous's" list above more complete and accurate. Voltaire never met a Democrat / a Republican, a religious zealot (atheist Marx - Mao),a progressive / a neocon, a liberal / a conservative, a socialist (communist / fascist) or other patron of the occupying statist theocracy infesting this land - they being the optimum antagonist(s) to Voltaire's here quote.

" No man's life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session."

Walter Clark, Fullerton CA

This is a powerful purpose for governments to have in their preambles. That its role in equality doesn't include reparation of past injustices. Nor does it include any form of making us equally happy or secure. I agree with Mike, this one super bitchen aphorism.

Protection of the laws and FROM the laws. ;-) In man's eternal quest to be God, 'laws' are written every day to take a little more from the common man and put the power in the hands of his 'authorities' until eventually the secular religion has trumped natural law altogether, thus the foundation starts to crumble, and the empire must continue to ravage everything in order to survive. Eventually the beast must be defeated.
