I think of Waffler and the other liberal morons who think we can solve the nations debt problem by raising taxes on the "Rich". Pelosi and Boxer would get waivers of course.

Reston is right. We should outlaw home schooling and herd all the kids into these giant prisons that we call public schools, and don't forget to walk through the metal detecter. And if you can't read when you graduate, not to worry, there's remedial reading classes when you get to Flunk U.

It depends on which religous influences you're talking about. The religion of Islam is about control and terror and certainly not about freedom. Ask any woman who lives under it.

Here's something for students in college or planning to go to college, from "Dilberts Guide to the Rest of Your Life", a book I strongly recommend. If your college degree has the word "arts" in it anywhere, you"ll have no problem getting a job, at least as long as cars and dishes get dirty.

He also said to never let schooling get in the way of your education.

The central task of education should be to teach people to think, something our public schools do not do.

The Department of Education along with the teachers unions are the main reasons that our schools are so bad that they have remedial reading classes in colleges.

I wish I had said that, it sums it up perfectly.

Perhaps we need some "good citizens" in the government. looking at the current crop running things, they seem to be in short supply. Obama was in our town a few days ago, and for a thousand bucks you could hear him speak. I took a pass on that as I didn't own a pair of hip boots.

Waffler, what are public schools if not a "forced type of education" ? "Public schools" and "education" is a contridiction in terms, or as Mark Twain put it, "Don't let schooling get in the way of your education".

David, I understand that half the people in Hollywood are nuts, but what the heck do you mean by your comment, and are you related to Waffler and Reston ?

Robken, I didn't say that libs didn't have high IQ's, you misread my comment. I just wonder why they could be liberals, hey, maybe they are mentally deranged.

Today's quotes were excellent and Waffler is still a left wing idiot.

jim k, Austin, Tx

Waffler, your comment is gibberish and I'm being kind. Carl Marx would be proud of you.

Transmitting freedom to our children doesn't include having them sing songs of worship to Obama in school classrooms.

Well said, E Archer. The government wants you poor, subserviant and voting. This means voting for the very incumbents that create the problems in the first place. Sort of like hiring an alcoholic as night watchmen in a liquor store.

Arguing with a liberal is like trying to teach a pig to whistle, it's impossible and just annoys the pig. Why a full grown person who has an IQ of at least 80 and is not mentally deranged would be a liberal is a mystery.

I nearly fell out of my chair when I read this quote. I work at a place called the Trinity Center here in Austin as a volunteer. It's on Trinity street, thus the name. We provide some services for the homeless in our area. Yesterday I gave a short "devotion" to the group of about 70 homeless people, it was mostly a short reading, and this exact quote was included in my talk. It's a good quote for living for all of us, my opinion anyway.

Unfortunatly, the illiterate of this century seem to be electing our leaders and some of these illiterates have college degrees.

Michael, Houston, I'll go you one better. My wife was talking on the phone to a cousin in Florida, a lady about 45 or so years old. She asked my wife what time it was in Texas, and then asked if that was AM or PM. Florida is on Eastern Standard Time and is one hour ahead of Texas.

And Reston forgets that JFK sent the first troops into Viet Nam, they were called "advisors" at the time.

jim k, Austin, Tx

My have the TIMES have changed. Mike is right and Reston is still a commie.

jim k, Austin, Tx

As usual, Reston makes an inane comment that has nothing to do with the quote. Ron Paul is one of the few members of congress who makes a lick of sense.

With the Income Tax , The War on Drugs The EPA, etc, Our government makes war on it's own citizens.

Pretty well describes the American version of the Ghestapo.
