Back to the dark ages Reston? as opposed to forward into global slavery? I think you are shortsighted and incapable of understanding where this "statist theocracy" that Mike so often and accurately points to...are taking us. Let alone all of the UN American ramifications of this Statist Theocracy.

Good thought Mike, I'm grateful everytime I look at my family in my home. Grateful that I was given the ability to create this situation. Oddly though...whenever I see what our governments are doing to us, I have some abstract thoughts of revenge...go figure. :) Fortunately for me though, I am a peaceful man.

Try asking your government for copies of legislation they have passed. You'll be treated like a wet dog at a wedding.

Much like Harper and Obama staring directly into the cameras and smiling as they signed away the sovereignty of Canada and the United States this week. They have officially embarked on the creation of the North American Union and a step towards Globalism.

Politicians think about the next election, Statesmen think about the next generation. We could do without the Politicians and the Diplomats. They can both be replaced with a higher nobility of Statesmen.

Reston allows and condones the financial raping of the people? The very act of an income tax is criminal - period! End the Fed.

J Carlton, Calgary

Income tax...the robbing of Peter to pay Paul. The collection of monies from the electorate by an arm of the Federal Reserve to pay the interest on the loans made to the Government by a private cartel of bankers, which in turn allows the Government to spend as it pleases and puts the debt on the American people. It's a Ponzi Scheme. We can have infrastructure without the Bankers involvement.

Accurate observation Mike. But this isn't new. Governemnt has been ever expanding for some time now, but the Kenyan is moving toward socialism farther and fster than any of his predecessors. Restore the Republic!

J Carlton, Calgary

The first thing that springs to mind is the Chairman of the Federal Reserve...

We have a Constitution - Simple. We live in a Republic - Simple. We have inherent rights that are not subject to interpretation - Simple. We have no business meddling in foreign affairs - Simple. We have Communists masquerading as Liberals mindlessly chanting "yes we can, yes we can"...and boy oh boy are THEY Simple!

I don't buy into this at all. The problem is more along the lines that things have falsely and wrongly been made more convoluted than is necessary so that people DON'T understand... That way the government can say "Go back to sleep America, everything is fine".

J Carlton, Calgary

Thanks Archer, I don't always seem to have the gift of being able to express myself that well and everything I can do to repel the communists is a help :)

J Carlton, Calgary

Archer, can I use that? very well said.

"Government is the only agency which can take a valuable commodity like paper, slap ink on it and make it totally worthless" ~ Ludwig Von Mises

Today's fiat currency can be inflated and devalued at the drop of a hat. And this is exactly what is happening with "stimulus and bail-outs". It is a system of control and theft that is run by private concerns who are neither concerned nor loyal to any sovereign nation's economy or well being. It is a criminal system.

RBE...we've had a fascist state since Lincoln. And its been very pronounced since the murder / coup d etat of JFK. Reagan's hands have been just as tied as any other President, to a system of entrenched corruption.

J Carlton, Calgary

So Reston...ALL the other governments...except Reagan of course, we're just Peachy? Hitler, Stalin, Amin, Chavez, Castro, Pol Pot, Carter the Incompetent, Clinton the playboy who set up Freddie mac and fannie Mae to fail...Mao Tse Tung, Kim Jong Il....Liberalism truly has become a mental disorder.

I love all the comments pointing out that "Reagan" swelled the debt and blah blah blah... Haven't any of you figured out that the office of the POTUS is merely a stage for the latest meat puppet? If the debt went up it's because The Federal Reserve made it so...and they don't answer to the President. They give the orders.

J Carlton, Calgary

Simple, to the point, and entirely accurate.

50 stars and 13 stripes for this one.

@ Scott RI : Point taken. However I take into account the US Foreign Policy in the Middle East sinse the 2nd WW. The policy od installing dictators "friendly" to US interests, currency and economic manipulation and basic arrogance towards the people of those nations. 60 years of it has not earned us their friendship, but has earned us their animosity. The CIA has a term for it..."Blowback". So while I agree with you that we have a problem that will likely require force to solve, I do not condone the actions that brought that situation about. that being said....don't get me started on Viet Nam. We lost control of our government a long time ago and it's time to clean house. Be well, Scott.

From an internet source, I would compare our long term involvement in the Middle East to Orwell's concept of perpetual war...."An example of doublethink in George Orwell's novel 1984. The totalitarian government of Oceania is constantly at war with one of the other two totalitarian superpowers that dominate the world: Eurasia and Eastasia. The objective is not to win the war, but to maintain a constant state of war in order to keep its citizens under control. When it is at war with Eastasia, the government declares that it has always been at war with Eastasia, that its people are an eternally hated enemy that must be destroyed. When the sides change, the same thing is said about Eurasia. It is considered every patriotic citizen's duty to believe both statements are true."

J Carlton, Calgary

The quote is accurate. The power of any government over it's people is rooted in its ability to make war and the domestic policies that go with it. There are many temporary laws in place left over from long gone wars, that allow the government to declare marial law at the drop of a hat, steal people off the street and confiscate property that it boggles the mind. And most recently we have the Patriot Act which is unConstitutional on every level and sanctioned on both sides of the aisle. Still think we have a Government of the people, by the people?

cal - JFK was pulling us OUT of Viet nam and disbanding the CIA...what do you think got him murdered?

J Carlton, Calgary

hey Jim K...If you have never seen it, JFK by Oliver Stone is rather enlightening. I can't help but think that the "Coup d Etat" that happened as a result of Kennedy's murder was a major turning point in US history. The war mongers and power brokers have had no opposition since. Check it out, very interesting.
