Our nation has survived this long in spite of our government, not because of it. The termites, however, are busy day and night working to destroy what's left of this once great nation.

When you folk in states such as Illinois, Michigan and Ohio where your economy has tanked, come on down to Texas, a right to work state with no state income tax and milder winters. We have plenty of room for you.

I'm with Byron on Cain or Paul getting the nomination, however, Reagan disappointed me, When he debated Jimmy Carter he promised that the first thing he would do in office would be to get rid of the Department of Education and one other alphabet department that escapes my memory. He did neither. Axing the Department of Education alone would have been a great thing to do. A few more such as HUD,EPA,DEA,DOE,OSHA,etc, need to go into the dust bin of history.

For any neophytes in the crowd, the term "Republican Government" is not a reference to the Republican Party, or any other political party.

To add to Mikes comments, let's not forget the liberal professors indoctrinating young heads full of mush. It starts in the lower schools and gets topped off in college.

Another of many reasons that schools are failing is the teachers unions. They make it almost impossible to fire ateacher, no matter how bad they are.

E Archer, I disagree, Wafflers comment would have to improve to reach the level of gibberish.

Would anyone like to bet against me. I say that one of these days we will have ground troops in Libya. Remember Viet Nam, It started when JFK sent some "advisers" over there.

Thank goodness for men like Travis, there aren't many left, especially on the left.

Newport, with nonsense like yours, it's no wonder you remain anonymous.

The libs who would destroy our freedom, like cockroaches they never seem to sleep.

I agree with J Carlton and that's why I'm a Libertarian.

He could be describing the income tax.

The so-called War on Drugs has caused more arbitrary seizure of private property than almost anything since the income tax was instituted in 1913. Since our congress passed asset forfeiture laws, cops have routinely taken property when no crime has been committed and no one is even charged with a crime. The war on drugs is one of the horrors of our times. LEAP.cc

Taxation with represetation ain't been to hot either.

jim k, Austin, Tx

And Byron, don't you just love it when you hear that the income tax is "voluntary".

jim k, Austin, Tx

No wonder the Libs don't like him, he makes too much sense.

Best one sentence quote I've seen in many a moon.

Mr Benson was a former revenue agent for Illinois and the title of his book was "The Law That Never Was".

Naturally everyone knows that our government is open and honest and has only our best interests at heart. And it don't snow in Minneapolis......

Komrad Waffler, if the folk in the Hamptons had to cut domestic servents and household staff didn't that mean that those people were out of jobs. Oh, wait, sort of like those people losing their jobs today. You're right about one thing, us middle classers don't feel secure today, and that's mainly due to that merry band of fascists running the country today. As to the graduated income tax, Karl Marx loved it and included it in his communist manifesto.

Waffler, as usual, your comment is pure nonsense. " Government is nothing more than togetherness", you are truly insane. I wonder how that would have sounded to a Jew in Nazi Germany or someone in a Gulag in Stalins Russia. Maybe a political prisoner in Cuba would find that comment comforting. George Washington summed it up when he said, "Government is not eloquence, not reason, it is force, and like fire it is a dangerous servent and a fearful master". But of course, we all know that you are smarter than Washington.

jim k, Austin, Tx

Perhaps we should be a little kinder to Waff as he is obviously insane.

jim k, Austin, Tx

J, it's hard to see how he could get more insane but I guess it's possible.
