Home schooling is OK if there parents are secular and Liberal progressives they understand not to teach their opinions and beliefs.

Archer, but he was also against many aspects of socialism - it is yet again picking from the bible to match an agenda. Mike, as Churchill and others have said Democracy is always temporary and as for Liberty in my opinion America has never been a beacon of Liberty - behind each call for Liberty was a hidden deed.

RBESRQ

Why does he need to bring God into it - yet another example of mans inability to be responsible for his own actions.

RBESRQ

The Prince of Paradox - he and Oscar Wilde would have been fun together. Both would have had a field day with the likes of Palin, Beck and Limbaugh

Five stars for human Humor no stars for reality - so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and give him three. Mike, you amaze me, not giving this quote any stars?

RBESRQ

I love the theory and I'll give it 4 stars for intent.

RBESRQ

Only just chewable!

Archer, Obama doesn't have a root message if he did then I could join in the fracas. This is your opinion which is valued but out of place. Reston, it was a backhanded comment which read that way agrees with you.

RBESRQ

Right on Reston

RBESRQ

Mike, good point! Well done!

He was a Liberal, against socialism, and supported laissez-faire economics - not someone I would fully support. This statement reflects his own agenda and not the facts based on world history.

A perfect description of America today. Mike, you need to correct your statement. Yes, there is a fascist-left but there is also a fascist Right and its the fascist right that scares me far more than the fascist left. The fascist-right has on its side corporate America, the extreme religious fanatics, the military machine and the government who has the one, two and three, as dictatorial husbands. We are currently undergoing a number of the major characteristics of a fascist state. GW Bush built on those characteristics and, unfortunately, Obama seems to be following in his footstep. Moa Zedong is an example of fascist left - Moaism includes Communism and Marxism. The ONLY reason the word left became part of the equasion was because of the French when those representing the people sat on the Left and those representing the aristocracy sat on the Right. Mao built his success on the peasants not the workers. He realized that the peasants, if influenced enough (by Marxism - a communist utopia), had the power he needed to take over imperial China. Fascism stands for an autocratic government headed by a dictator and represented the far-right of the left-right positions.

Mike, These things you mention are already in place, don't you see how you are being hoodwincked - the faux news media has certainly done a good job. We already have 120 million on governement healthcare and it was Bush who started the ball rolling on the rest especially his buddies on Wall Street. GSachs was one of Obama's biggest campaign contributors. The Private industry made a total mess hence the bail-outs. It has NOTHING to do with real socialism - this is socialism for the wealthy. So, either way the media has won you over.

RBESRQ

YES! today the majority are being infected and they are totally unaware. They turn nice and good folk into the devils mouthpiece.

RBESRQ

Love it! and if its not you are fired!

Give me a break, the last thing Obama is is a socialist - he's as far from socialism as George Bush, Jr. (may be even further). He has taken on the mantel of corporate America - Its the Liberals that will save you from these fanatics like they have done in the past. The silent majority will be crushed as projectionism turns them into sheeple; and, the dissenters will be hunted down and put on display as terrorists. Its time you awoke from your comfort and security and start thinking for yourself.

One of the common failings among honorable people is doing nothing in the face of evil.

So true - we have supported nearly every right-wing take-over of democratically elected governments; mostly in Central America. America has supported terrorism and yet we call those wanting to take back their country terrorists - the worlds greatest sham. America is responsible for killing thousands of innocent civilians. Red-flags and lies are part of the American politic. The true patriot is supporting our troops to come home - enough of killing our young folk in the name of greed masquerading as bringing Democracy to world. Read Harold Pinter's Nobel Prize in Literature 2005

I'm afraid in America it's more a point of ignorance than having the intellect to be afraid. The Government and corporate America uses the threat of Tyranny as a part of their arsenal of the propaganda machine.

I'm sorry Waffler on this I must disagree - the true understanding of this quote comes in its intent and not the precise structure of the sentence. How can you rely on the majority to affirm ones rights when they are the minority? If those in corporate America (who own the media) can convince 51% to vote against what is reasonable and ethical and put into law a crime against humanity it is wrong - of course not all decisions made by the majority are wrong - all TJ was saying is that there are rights which the majority have no jurisdiction over.

rbesrq

You all make good points but, I must on this occasion side with Waffler for his sincerity - a good example would be TS Elliot's "Cocktail Party." Sadly, I fall into cat 3 though, with hope and optimism, this may change into cat 4. Mike, please realize that we are not out to change your belief or have you agree with opposing opinions - all we can do is share our thoughts and this will make us better human beings. Let not those who disagree sharpen your beliefs but allow you to discuss more openly and objectively others beliefs - sharpening your own beliefs is only half the equation.

Consumerism was brought about simply by greed and corporations doing away with longevity and devices that cost little or nothing.

Yes, those who seek acceptability, comparability, and conformability are but slave to the aspirations of equality and Liberty
