Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 10/1/08 It has nothing to do with all of that crap Mike says. "Policy; a course or plan of action". Anyone breathing has a course or plan of action at all times. When individuals come into contact with each other the more intertwined and complex these plans and courses of actions, from simple family policies and politics to ever larger policies and politics, become. Thus what Aristophanes says is we are all politicians all of the time. If you watch the "high" level politicians currently on the national stage, the beginning of their speeches start with acknowledging how beautiful their wives are, the first rule of politics, they proceed from there to ever larger issues. Reply jim k, austin 10/1/08 Now if we could just keep them under those stones..... Reply jim k, austin 10/1/08 Mike, Waff doesn't care for your comment so you must be right. Reply Mike, Norwalk 10/1/08 jim k, thanks; considering the source, I think you're right. He makes me smile and laugh a lot. Reply E Archer, NYC 10/1/08 From under what stone did Waffler crawl out? Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 10/1/08 We are all politicians as attested to by the millions of emails that hit Congress this week, some may be more amateurish than others, but still politians (those interested in policy) all. That is democracy at its best. Now if the stones will be removed (poll taxes, literacy etc) we may reach political nirvana yet. Archer still has ascerbic gate watcher tyrannical attitude I see. I can understand Jim K's desire to keep every one muzzled and under a stone also, fascist that he is. These folks obviously hate Freedom and Liberty and free expression wanting to keep everyone under a stone. Reply Logan, Memphis, TN 10/1/08 I find it quite humorous that the people on this blog who purport more individual liberty, accountability, and freedom are the ones Waffler are saying "hate Freedom and Liberty and free expression wanting to keep everyone under a stone". We're the one's purporting a system of society and government where the individual is NOT taxed, licensed, surveillanced, or coerced into doing what he should be doing in the first place. Ya know, Waffler, a free society CAN really exist without trying to "legislate liberty" -- Interesting thought - and I want you to think long and hard about this - it's that liberty isn't something you legislate, it's something that's yours because you simply exist. Jim K's a fascist? LOL!! I've never heard of a libertarian leaning conservative called a fascist before! An anarchist, yes, but never a fascist! What school of tomfoolery did you graduate from? Reply Ken, Allyn, WA 10/1/08 Like Orwell said in 1984, "Love is hate, Freedom is Slavery, etc." Mr. Waffler seems to be fluent in Newspeak. I suppose Fascism is freedom in his dictionary. As for Aristophanes, I think he might not have envisioned how large some of those rocks would have to be to hide our politicians and their sins. Reply jacke, Salt Lake City 10/1/08 wowowwwo!! Reply Lillian, Columbia, SC 10/1/08 Perfect Timing. They just voted to sink the dollar and inflate us all into oblivion to save the imprudent. Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 10/2/08 "The contemplative life is a most active life. It is not one of lonely contemplation, for man is, by nature, a social anima, essentially a social and political animal, which means that there could not be a "perfect life" lived in isolation" A quote on a lecture about Aristotle's philosophy which seems apropos to the above discussion and my assertion that we are all politicians. Reply Ken, Milford Pa 10/2/08 Yes, and they have proven again that they have nothing but contempt for the people. 87% wanted the bail out bill dumped, but they went against the will of the people and spit in our collective faces. I guess they feel that we are too stupid to understand the issues. I guess that they think that we put them in office to do what ever they think is right and ignore the public. This is why I have said before that we need to get very, very active. We need to regain control of our country and our childrens future. Yes they are under rocks with slugs and roaches. They come out from time to time to raid the fruits of our labors. If you agree with this blog, get busy. E-mail them, call them, write them, let them know that you are aware, and will not forget come election day. SaveOk2 SaveOk2 View CommentsClick to view or comment.
