This is why religion should be totally separate from our schools - prayer and amen are words that that are not the domain of any religion - we must be an example to the rest of the world - the only religion I would personally agree with being taught in schools is Buddhism, as its main tenet is to except its teaching on your terms and only take from it what you feel is right.

I agree with Reston, but the rest is OK - I don’t think Lord Acton meant it in the way it comes across. Liberty is a fundamental prerequisite to all people and can only be truly achieved by giving it to others. Tolerance and an understanding of our differences are essential if we too are to enjoy Liberty. If we are to continue to enjoy Liberty we must start to promote peace and make it our "Manhattan Project". Without peace in the world we really don't have liberty - let's be a new and exciting force in the world and change our way we battle over our differences. We must continue to talk, talk, and talk until we are blue in the face before we revert to arms. Religion, if we are not careful, will be the end of Liberty as we know it today. Let's go out into the world and build schools and universities, hospitals, roads, instead of making tanks and bombs - let's give it a chance, because the history of going to war over our differences obviously doesn't work - sorry, I'm on my soap-box this morning.

We are our own enemy more so than any terrorist - make me President and I will bring back education into our schools and include ethics and cultural and religious differences, ban all political campaign funding, have the media designate time for political discourse and elections, do away with religion in any public forum, take the God out of our pledge, bring back respect for liberalism, cut the military budget by 75%, create a Department of Peace, help build hospitals and schools in countries that desperately need them, create employment by repairing the nations infrastructure, stop the sale of weapons to foreign countries, build emergency medical centers in low-income areas, create incentives to hose who make things, increase the minimum wage to $10, never allow our nation to invade another country unless we are attacked first, the list goes on but I think you get the idea. Lastly, 80% of the world’s population would find oatmeal and potatoes a luxury.

To help fight Polio (nearly eradicated world wide), to provide clean drinking water in Africa, to provide medical assistance to the children and adults effected by Chernobyl, to help the millions of children who are abused, to help those who are incapable of self-survival, to be a conduit for those in need, labor is not enough it also takes millions of dollars mostly given by individuals who have money in excess of their own needs. Life is not black and white it is VERY grey… Yes, those are evil who hoard riches without concern for others.

I agree too - corporations, like religion, should be kept out of politics - by all means they may lobby politicians but they should not have power over them. And, their influence should not be financial or based on their political or personal position.
