The lack of money is the root of all evil.

Generally speaking, if I want to be right, I simply read Waffler and take the opposite position.

I think it's about time for Texas to secede.

Yeazel, your reply and language you use shows a real high degree of intelligence. I bet that you write on walls next to public toilets.

Here's a revolutionary idea. Next election throw them all out and let's start over.

More harm is done under the banner of "the public good" than almost anything else. Ann nails it.

"Government, in it's last analysis, is organized force." Woodrow Wilson

Ayn gets it right.

Speaking of dumb, read the Anonymous fourth from the top.

Gwennie, Thomas Jefferson did not favor secession but said that states had the right to seceed. Too bad they weren't allowed to seceed as it cost the lives of 650,000 Americans.

Whatever you may think of J. Edgar, he was right on target with this quote.

It's always all about the money.

Joe usually got it right and this was no exception.

Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, commie spies come to mind as well as good old commie Alger Hiss who was in our State Department. When the Rosenbergs were tried as spies, reds all over the country held rallies for them and wept bitter tears when these two traiters were executed.

The people of Eastern Europe were taken over by the Nazis and then after the war, WW2, were given over to Stalin who was every bit as bad as Hitler, maybe worse. Those poor folk couldn't catch a break.

Hoover may have been a little quirky but he was right on target then and it is the same for now. Examples are, a recent big Commie rally in California, this Occupy Wall Street business, and the extreme enviromental movement just to name three.

The defendent and the law are both on trial in every criminal case.

Mann,Kalamazoo is right and you will never hear a judge tell a jury of this age old method of nullifying bad law. Several years ago, I asked my brother-in law about jury nullification and he had never even heard of it. He is also one of the best defence lawyers in Ohio. They must not be teaching this in law schools now days.

If it's a bad law, a juror can, and should, vote not guilty regardless of any thing a judge says. It's called Jury Nullification.

A perfect quote and exactly right. Another great quote is, "No man's life, liberty, or property is safe when the Legislature is in session."

Stalin or Mao said something to the effect that if you kill one person it's murder, but if you kill a thousand it's a statistict. Not an exact quote but you get the idea.

So what's the problem here, I thought this was known as negotiating or bargaining.

Hitler and Stalin controled people with fear. The people were afaid of speaking against these tyrants as anyone, even members of their own family could inform on them. The IRS pays people that inform on anyone they suspect of tax violations. What's next ?

The idea of hate crimes and banning assault weapons is simply a foot in the door for all sorts of government attrocities.

Tell that to Hillary, Obama, and the Brady bunch.
