That's the Irish for you. Quick witted and always up for a good laugh. 5 stars for the laugh I got out of it. Reply warren, olathe 2/6/09 Funny, but far more accurate than the more common phrase. Reply Bryan Morton, Stuart, Florida 2/6/09 Five for humor minus two for accuracy. I give it a three. Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 2/6/09 Lack of how much money? Reply Mike, Norwalk 2/6/09 I had to give it a star for the humor value. The statement is one of the underpinnings of the author's religious views. Love, faith, truth, charity, integrity, ethics, etc. are not financial issues except, when the lack thereof is applied to third parties. Money, the abundance or lack thereof is not evil. It is the obsession with, and control over, at the cost of your fellow man that is evil. Reply jim k, austin 2/6/09 It may not be the root of all evil, but this quote is at least 90% accurate. Reply Waffler, Smith, Arkansas 2/7/09 You finally really nailed something Mike! Reply Ken, Allyn, WA 2/7/09 Laziness is more likely the root of all evil. If you are lazy, you have no money. If you are lazy and have no money, you will be envious of someone else's money. If you are envious of someone else's money, you'll want to take it by persuasion, guilt, or pity. If that doesn't work, you'll take it by force. If you can't do that by yourself, you'll get the government to help you take it. In the end laziness can turn you into a thief and if need be a murderer. Reply A.WOODS, Gloucester 2/8/09 The stars are for Ken from Allen, WA's post. Reply E Archer, NYC 2/8/09 I think Ken's point is more true. Reply warren, olathe 2/9/09 Mike, reading your answer is confusing. You indicate you find fault with it but then restate the better made quote in different words. You are saying the same thing as the quote. Ken nails the truth of it but it would seem that Ken would have given it 5 stars for agreeing with it. Reply warren, olathe 2/9/09 Mike, Waffler agrees with you. Rethink your position!! Reply Ken, Allyn, WA 2/9/09 Warren, I rated it only two stars because it is a clever quip but I don't believe lack of money is the ROOT of all evil. The root cause I believe is laziness. I was once young and had no money. I could have chosen to be lazy and beg, borrow, or steal someone else's money but instead I chose to work for my own money. A young, ambitious, hard working man who has no money does not have within him the root of evil. His lack of money and his faith that honest work will get it is a reflection of man's nobility. By the sweat of his brow shall he live. SaveOk2 SaveOk2 View CommentsClick to view or comment.
