That would be the 1st Amendment right you have in case you do not already know. See you around Marie,Dowey Reply Lee N$, Philadelphia, PA USA 8/25/05 To the Dead, it makes no difference. To Orphans and the Homeless, when mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism, the difference is that their situation may be getting even worse, and may cause their deaths. To Orphans and the Homeless, the efforts expended by others in "the holy name of liberty and democracy", though destructive, may very well be understood as part of the price that must be expended to purchase freedom and liberty. Sadly, Freedom is Not Free. Gandi was an exceptional and enlightened person; however he not struggling against mass murderers, poison gas, or terrorists. His non-violent activities assisted his countrymen in throwing off the oppression of England's colonialism. The English were a civilized democratic nation who understood the sanctity of life. Even the most naive will recognize that non-violence is ineffective in dealing with uncivilized terrorists who are willing to kill indiscriminately to further their cause. If we believe we can never achieve something, then you have already made it so. Reply BOB, NYC 5/3/06 Keep Bush, shoot the liberals!!! Reply Morgan, Louisville, Ky 2/19/07 I agree with Lee. Wars fought in the name of bringing people liberty and democracy are VERY different from wars fought for totalitarian self-interests. This is why I cannot stand Bush. He pretends to fight for democracy, but he only fights for democracy in places with geopolitical interests, like Iraq with its oil. Nevermind that at least 400,000 people have died in the Sudanese Darfur region because of government conflicts. They aren't profitable to America, so leave to suffer and die. God bless America. Save Darfur!! Vote Clinton '08!!!!!! Reply Tony, Reading 12/8/07 Wars fought in the name of bringing people liberty and democracy that do not obey the will of those people are nothing but Paternalism! If you belive in democracy and want to fight (by word or sword), strengthen and support the community of nations (that's the UN or something better) Reply bob, bakersfield 4/29/08 how appropriate. let's get out of Iraq now! Reply Steve, Canada 8/30/08 The people who fought most effectively for my freedom are almost none of them soldiers, though their enemies often were. Some didn't even need to fight, such was their influence: Christ, Gandhi, Thomas Jefferson, William Wilberforce, John Stuart Mill, Louis Riel, Karl Marx, John Maynard Keynes, Martin Luther King, John, Robert and Ted Kennedy, John Kenneth Galbraith, John Hume, to name a very few. The list is long, thick, and hopefully will continue until there is no further need. Our servicemen and women are certainly fighting for something - I'm just not sure freedom or democracy are the right words for it. Let's keep working for a better tomorrow. Cheers! P.S. Try voting for that Obama guy. He seems nice. Reply Anonymous 3/12/09 Right on, Gandhi! Peace out! Reply J Carlton, Calgary 9/17/12 It has a certain general point to it, but if things are destroyed in the fight for liberty it's because someone took an aggressive stand against liberty. And someone else fought to keep it. Like it or not, freedom is worth fighting for. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 9/17/12 Steve, Canada, you almost made some sense until that last line. That "Obama Guy" may seem nice but what he has planned for this once proud and prosperous country is a long way from nice. Reply Mike, Norwalk 9/17/12 What specifically is the "mad destruction" referenced as would be applied to today's situation. King George the torturer and Mr. Obamunist Goodwrench the assassin's holy name of liberty and democracy are individually and jointly the destruction of totalitarianism. It doesn't matter to the dead in any case. To the living (orphan, homeless, with family, wealthy, or otherwise), freedom and liberty offers a solution and a way out of the destruction of totalitarianism and democracy. Reply Abby 9/17/12 "The American communists worked energetically and tirelessly to lay the foundations for the United Nations which we were sure would come into existence. … It can be said, without exaggeration, that ever closer relations between our nation and the Soviet Union are an unconditional requirement for the United Nations as a world coalition. … The United Nations is the instrument for victory. Victory is required for the survival of our nation. The Soviet Union is an essential part of the United Nations. Mutual confidence between our country and the Soviet Union and joint work in the leadership of the United Nations are absolutely necessary." by: Earl Browder, (1891-1973) General Secretary of the Communist Party USA (1934-1945), writer Source: Victory--and after. When one man has the power to send bombs and bullets into civilian populations because 'they hate us for our freedom' you have tyranny. Peace cannot be established by permanent War. Few religionists really care about the millions of deaths their government cause when the 'enemy' is of a different religion (and color). SaveOk2 SaveOk2 View CommentsClick to view or comment.
