Kennan quote And speaking of the Peace Prize, it became an idiotic joke when Gore and Obama got it. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/23/11 re: C. S. Lewis quote The history of the world is the story of it's wars. 3 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/19/11 re: Lord Acton quote It depends on which religous influences you're talking about. The religion of Islam is about control and terror and certainly not about freedom. Ask any woman who lives under it. 3 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/18/11 re: Mark Twain quote Here's something for students in college or planning to go to college, from "Dilberts Guide to the Rest of Your Life", a book I strongly recommend. If your college degree has the word "arts" in it anywhere, you"ll have no problem getting a job, at least as long as cars and dishes get dirty. 5 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/18/11 re: Mark Twain quote He also said to never let schooling get in the way of your education. 3 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/13/11 re: Stephen Arons quote The Department of Education along with the teachers unions are the main reasons that our schools are so bad that they have remedial reading classes in colleges. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/13/11 re: Richard Mitchell quote I wish I had said that, it sums it up perfectly. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/13/11 re: Herbert Spencer quote Perhaps we need some "good citizens" in the government. looking at the current crop running things, they seem to be in short supply. Obama was in our town a few days ago, and for a thousand bucks you could hear him speak. I took a pass on that as I didn't own a pair of hip boots. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/12/11 re: Plato quote Waffler, what are public schools if not a "forced type of education" ? "Public schools" and "education" is a contridiction in terms, or as Mark Twain put it, "Don't let schooling get in the way of your education". 3 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/12/11 re: Robert G. Ingersoll quote David, I understand that half the people in Hollywood are nuts, but what the heck do you mean by your comment, and are you related to Waffler and Reston ? 4 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/11/11 re: Thomas Sowell quote Today's quotes were excellent and Waffler is still a left wing idiot. 3 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/11/11 re: Ludwig von Mises quote Waffler, your comment is gibberish and I'm being kind. Carl Marx would be proud of you. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/10/11 re: William Havard quote Transmitting freedom to our children doesn't include having them sing songs of worship to Obama in school classrooms. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/10/11 re: William Godwin quote Well said, E Archer. The government wants you poor, subserviant and voting. This means voting for the very incumbents that create the problems in the first place. Sort of like hiring an alcoholic as night watchmen in a liquor store. 1Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/10/11 re: Thomas Jefferson quote Arguing with a liberal is like trying to teach a pig to whistle, it's impossible and just annoys the pig. Why a full grown person who has an IQ of at least 80 and is not mentally deranged would be a liberal is a mystery. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/6/11 re: John Wesley quote I nearly fell out of my chair when I read this quote. I work at a place called the Trinity Center here in Austin as a volunteer. It's on Trinity street, thus the name. We provide some services for the homeless in our area. Yesterday I gave a short "devotion" to the group of about 70 homeless people, it was mostly a short reading, and this exact quote was included in my talk. It's a good quote for living for all of us, my opinion anyway. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/3/11 re: Alvin Toffler quote Unfortunatly, the illiterate of this century seem to be electing our leaders and some of these illiterates have college degrees. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/3/11 re: Abigail Adams quote Michael, Houston, I'll go you one better. My wife was talking on the phone to a cousin in Florida, a lady about 45 or so years old. She asked my wife what time it was in Texas, and then asked if that was AM or PM. Florida is on Eastern Standard Time and is one hour ahead of Texas. Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/2/11 re: Dr. Ron Paul quote And Reston forgets that JFK sent the first troops into Viet Nam, they were called "advisors" at the time. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/2/11 re: New York Times quote My have the TIMES have changed. Mike is right and Reston is still a commie. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 5/2/11 re: Dr. Ron Paul quote As usual, Reston makes an inane comment that has nothing to do with the quote. Ron Paul is one of the few members of congress who makes a lick of sense. 2 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 4/27/11 re: Dr. Ron Paul quote Paul, as usual, is exactly right. As to his being "crazy", he's one of the very few members of congress that makes any sense. Republicans sometimes talk sense but they usually buddy up to their democrat pals and the country goes farther down the rat hole. 5 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 4/27/11 re: Edward H. Crane quote Waff, as usual you make no sense, but that's pretty normal for Liberals. What on earth does this quote have to do with the Cato Institute? Your Komrad buddy Anonymous brought that up and he made no sense either. Do you two get your marching orders from the same commie cell ? 4 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 4/27/11 re: Edward H. Crane quote Robken, are you sugessting that the Cato Institute controls America ? If not, please enlighten us as to who's in charge. 1 Reply jim k, Austin, Tx 4/25/11 re: Glenn Garvin quote Mike, J Allen, and Cal have said it well.
